08 LS460L Adjustable suspension not ADJUSTING
I know been posting a lot of questions but where I live the Dealer is a mess....
The shocks on my 08 LS460L don't adjust meaning there is no difference between any of the settings AT ALL. My 2010 LS460 base with 205K miles with coils has smoother ride then my LS460L with Air and 80K miles so I know there's a problem.
Does anyone know how to test what the problem is? Any ideas would be helpful. Is there Fuses? All the lights fine on my dash when the buttons are pushed.
I tried to to just take it to the dealer in area where I live in Cali and they were a mess didn't know what they were doing. I live in Central valley cali and can travel. Does anyone know of anyone who's good who works on these in cali I will travel.

Just to clarify, when you switch to comfort or sport, you see corresponding light on your dash coming on, right? If that is the case, I would check the suspension regulator switch, fuses and relays. I will try to find locations of fuses and/or relays and update my post if nobody provides any relevant information.
If you have no error lights, and the correct dash light comes on when you switch suspension settings, then your suspension might be at the end of its life. My 08 had worn out air struts, and there was not much noticeable difference between the settings.
From what I have read here, the dampening is provided by oil chamber in the struts. If your struts are worn out, I don't think they can be fixed by just anyone. There is a company in Japan who actually rebuilds the stock air struts, they replace
everything inside with their own stiffer and stronger components, but it's not cheap. And you have to send your struts to them.

if your ride is bad I assume you mean you have too much travel or play then it’s the mechanical strut issue the air strut is a bag that has a normal coil strut in the middle in this case it’s adjustable.
not related much to ride but does your height high work? It’s not really important because if the bag fails = new strut the shock absorber fails equals the same thing.
go to all four corners of the car try pushing the car up and down, if it moves easily you have a busted strut. Try all 4 corners and compare.
could also be the strut mount part delaminating from the truth lots of things can happen it’s not a well made strut imho compared with blisterin models made for euro cars which are more modular and rebuidable and safer due to a better mount design
go to the engine bay open the covers that seal the top of the strut with engine on etc have someone change the settings while you look at it, if you see or find oil in that area or we oil squirting lol out when the mode is changed well you know what’s wrong right there.
you have a few options
switch to whatever ready made struts
follow what I did go factory style
but Factory original from sone place like the UAE or US check eBay for under 600 a side . The fronts are not a difficult job at all an hour plus aside max what shop would charge who knows back a bit more involve due to set removal or partial dismantling
I had air now I am on factory coil.

If you have an airbag failure, you'll know about it. The car is undriveable because it will be sitting on that wheel which is attached to the failed strut. There is a member here who had an airbag failure, first and only time I read about it happening.
Do a forum search. We had a member here whos LS with air wound up having a disconnected actuator, which meant all 4 corners were on full damping all the time...no warning lights or anything.

you can save quite a bit by buying Kyb strut mounts for front and back they are very cheap in the US, we don’t have them here so I had to buy Toyota branded parts. Which cost more. Essentially you can buy strut+mount for 150-200 or so, and that would usually include all the rubber bits too need. So excluding springs you can be done at 800 or less.
I paid a bit over 1000 usd to do all 4 sides in all factory parts, only thing that’s not exactly factory is the kyb which did not come with Toyota part number stickers.
this is just parts.
