I know for a fact that when boosting the LS with HKS supercharger. They require 0W-40 . That is in a boosted application.

Thank you, I was about to start linking stock engines that alter weight when modified and many that retain stock warranty like the TRD cars.

We are not talking a 50W oil, that is too big a gap/too thick for a engine designed for a 20/30W oil in many cases, a 30W oil will cause no problems as most Lexus/Toyota engine families were originally designed to use a 30W and then went to 20W just for fuel economy.

16W is designed just for fuel economy likely for hybrids with low power/driven lightly and I just would not trust it in higher performing engines especially if you plan on keeping the engine for a while.
