Talking Finally Bought Mine!

Yes, it has a salvaged title (but not flooded). I pick it up in a couple of days. Not too fond of the rims right now, but the dealership owner offered to swap them out with the next LS his dealership gets? We'll see.

I primarily plan to get the windows tinted, catch it up on routine maintenance, and check on the brake actuator and front control arms.

Front Control Arms , fuel pump gasket seal ( leak ) for both Bank One and Two , brake actuator are all comment issues for all early models of 2007-2010 LS460 . Pay attention to the interior dash crack and defected panels around glove box , all door arm rests and steeling wheel panel . Lexus will replace them for free under the Customer Satisfaction ZLZ inspection . All you have to do is bring the vehicle in and have them check it out . You have a very basic package so should have 9 pieces panels ordered. The parts will take over a year to arrive . Good luck !

That price is too high for a vehicle with a salvage title.

The link is taken down, so here's the carfax: https://www.carfax.com/vehicle/JTHBL46F785059935

As for the price, I'm paying more for the lower mileage. Most of the other LS in these years have 150k+ miles on them. For a couple of grand more, I think it's a huge value.

I will be a little reluctant about that car, 100K miles is not “low mileage”, the interior looks clean from the carfax photos, branded title should be a show stopper but if you intend to drive it until it goes to the junk yard then probably you’re ok, there are cars there with a lot less miles for a couple of thousand more (which you will spend on repairs sooner or later anyway, in the end if you like the car go for it. I did not know that they’re also coming w/o navigation, no bid deal anyway.
Good luck !

Those rims need to go !!! I would not be afraid of a salvage myself as insurance companies will total out for minor damage on a older car. but, this one had the Airbags deployed and biohazard reported (means someone got really hurt or blood in it) and a total loss. I would of avoided this one myself.

Good luck with it. Make sure you have it fully checked out. With an air bag deployed in the past, I would make sure that system is perfect. You don't want to get into an accident and not have the airbag deploy.

It's kind rare to see one of these with out the Navi system in it...

Hello !

I would not be afraid of the salvage title personally and everything checks out ok.
I bought my 07 with 100,000 for $11,000 and I have now put another $7000 into it
with replacing all suspension components for $3500 (shocks, control arms, etc etc)
new radiator, thermostat, flushed heater core no heat, new brake rotors and pads - $2500
Transmission and differential fluids $300, no brake actuator yet but in the future probably
These are expensive cars to maintain as the miles go by but I don't really care given the
quality of ride, smooth powerful motor and thoughtful amenities

Good luck !
For me, that was actually a selling point since the navigation screens are quickly outdated and I'm used to using my phone anyway.

Same for me with the nav system. Outdated, good luck with your car!

Update on the car - obviously and expectedly needed a lot of deferred maintenance work:

1) Engine air filters - replaced with K&N air filters & Cabin air filter - also replaced with a K&N air filter
2) I have a cut seatbelt and a tightened seatbelt in the rear. I ordered replacement seatbelts on eBay, so hopefully those will work.
3) Replaced front headlight bulb (had dealer do it because I didn't dare try to move the fuse box).
4) Windshield wiper fluid was out and not even connected. Quick fix and ordered a new cap from eBay.
5) Airbag system diagnosed and I need a new airbag ECM. Ordered one on eBay for installation.
6) No TPMS sensors, but tires and rims are fine. Will take care of, but not in a rush on it.
7) Brake sensors don't exist either. Not yet ordered. Pads and brakes were visually inspected and they are good.
8) Brake actuator is recommended to be replaced. I have the part number to save $800 from dealer prices.
9) Recommended to replace all the front control arms and do the alignment at that time. I certainly won't go with the dealer, but did find the MEVOTECH on RockAuto site for about $600 for all the parts.
10) My lug nuts are anti-theft and I don't have the key... so I'll have to get them broken off and replaced.
11) I also ordered replacement air filters for the front seats as well.

Just to ask regarding control arms, I found this listing on eBay. Anybody used this package? Is it junk? (I bet it is.)

Honestly, you should have gone for lower miles and no pending repair. At least, that what I should have done when I was purchasing mine.

We all make the best decisions with the information we have at the time.

At least, for me, I went in with my eyes fairly open. I just didn't expect it to need this much work done so soon, that's all.

Never order aftermarket control arms on eBay. These are cheap Chinese made and you need to use OEM parts . This will make a difference on you driving experience. I had front control arms replaced using Lexus OEM , it drives very smooth . You pay 50% more but it's well worth in a long run . Suggesting using OEM brake pads and two file pump gasket seals too . Go to Discount Tires for the TPMS replacement , I got them installed for $65 . Also you need to get the transmission fluid Drain and Filled once . This will prevent it from failure !
