Advice wanted
So my wife found a 14 LS460 we actually purchased today. Very clean 2 owner (first was dealership GM) so it's been here (no salt) and been well maintained.
It came with bumper to bumper/ unlimited 2 years of Lexus warranty, which is awesome. We have an 2006 SC430 & had an LS400 back in the day. I'm a huge Toyota/Lexus fan and I'm not really worried about the drivetrain...however some of the electronic (Nav/Radio/Ent & onboard computers) scare me as I've seen some posts with prices and it's pretty clear there won't be many after market alternatives and it's not something I want to tackle.
For $5700 I can EXTEND after the 2 years for 5 years the entire B2B Lexus (not aftermarket) warranty to 2027 / unlimited miles. I went ahead and did it on CC (we have the money to do it and we paid cash for the car already) with the ability to get 100% return if I opt out in 30 days or less. After 30 days it's $50 if we want the money refunded up to 2 years (included warranty) so it's a 0% interest savings account. After 24 months is prorated + $50 cancelation fee. We can transfer to new owner or get our money if we wreck the car, sell, or trade the car.
Of course wear items are NOT covered. We would have a Lexus loaner if needed as well.
I know the 400's were hugely reliable...as are 99% of all Toyota's. But seeing the radio for $2900 used on Ebay, reading about $3000+ amps, $600 sub (and knowing the 8 ohm speaker / amp BS on the ML system from my SC430) I know it wouldn't be hard to see $5700 even if the motor / tranny were perfect for the 7 years.
We don't really care about having the best/latest/greatest...so owning this car for 7 years is pretty likely. My last Tundra had 290k on it...and honestly taxes pushed my upgrade 1000 times more than fear of failure or being warn out. Heck I tried to sell it to my folks since it was 4 door vs their single cab.
I also like that we can refund if we sell...or use it to get top dollar for the car as a trade or private sale if we ever required a different vehicle.
Knowing what you guys know about these cars, having lived with them....would you do it? Or would you gamble? I think regardless I'm doing it for a year...just to CYA. It's only interest cost...which isn't much.
Thanks in advance for your help!

Does it have air suspension? Are control arms covered? What about the brake actuator? I assume its RWD?
$5,700 is a LOT of money. Lets think about what can go wrong. Theres the air suspension. At the dealer this can be a $2,500 per corner repair. Independent its probably $1,500 a corner assuming you want to keep the air (I would). Control arms, OEM we're looking at $4k. BUT, independent can be as little as $1,500. Brake actuator. These typically do not go BAD anymore, they just can be noisy and a lot of people want to replace them. Thats a $3,500 job at the dealer, $1,500 or so at an independent mechanic. Outside of those things, its just minorish things like door lock actuators, etc.
The only way I would consider that warranty is if you have the air suspension. Otherwise, I say put the $5,700 away in a savings account to use if an issue comes up.

Here is the agreement:

I did not know that. I would not add the warranty at this price and would take chance. If something goes bad, you would have money in bank to repair it but most probably you won't have that situation. My air suspension is still good at 140k (115k have been put on by me in last 4 years and 9 months). Still have about 27 months left. Used it once for lower control arms only. We don't have many pot holes in FL but it can be different where you drive

Congrats on the 14. I'd say that's a very expensive warranty. When I bought my 14 online last year, I took it to the Lexus dealership. They offered me an extended warranty called CustomEdge. Because I don't drive the car that much, I got a 5 year 35K mile warranty for $1500 I believe. I attached the deal.
The car does NOT have air ride, So that's not a concern, I had read about some of the issues with that option before and wanted to make sure that wasn't going to be an issue.
I'm thinking I'll ride out the first 6-12 months...see how things go and then probably cancel for $50.
I loved WKRP as a kid and Herb is my spirit animal.
I was in a YouTube rabbit hole the other night and got into WKRP. Turns out the reason it's out of syndication is...the aholes in the music industry. Back in the day they talked about using 'sound alike' songs to save royalties...but they fought to get the real songs in the first few episodes. It became apparent that the show was helping drive music sales for those artists and the record companies actually gave them cut rate deals to get their 'demo's' out. Record companies even lobbied WKRP producers to put THEIR music on the show because it was great for their sales. Even in early syndication they were reasonable as it was still current music that was selling in stores. Once it became clear how much it would cost to take it out and syndication was popular...they made insane royalty demands on syndication or dvd sales...like $100k for using 5-20 second clips of songs.
So for all practical purposes WKRP in Cincinnati is forever dead unless you pirate it...if that's even an option.

The CPO extended warranty for five more years and unlimited miles should be about $4425 max.
I’d cancel your contract and call Casey McGrew at Shreveport Lexus.

The Certified extension can be purchased any time during the two year window. But, they do incremental price increase throughout the year. So, the best price will be now! The Certified extensions are a tad bit more for the cars that are not in factory warranty any longer. They are still unlimited miles and kick in after your 2 year certified expires.
1 extra year: $1,000. ($1000)
2 extra years box: $1,730. ($865)
3 extra years: $2,515. ($838)
4 extra years: $3,415. ($853)
5 extra years: $4,425. ($885)”
