Thanks. I have no problem screwing around with Windows registry and such but am not sure I'm interested in slapping this on my company laptop.

Wouldn't using an XP virtual machine work just fine? Finding an old 32 bit laptop and then getting XP on it seems quite the hassle and expensive. I have a cable coming Sunday and will be able to test the VM out then but I'm pretty positive that should work.

It would but the problem is usually the host OS. It is still needs passthrough an OBD adapter and that is where you get a ton of problems.

I was using XP in a virtual machine on my 17 inch MacBook pro for years until I bought an older much smaller think pad just for techstream.

Technically, it is not free. The software referred above is to Techstream version with expiration date bypass, it effectively makes it free but not legally.

Is there any way to get a quality Techstream, at a "reasonable" price that works with a Win 10 laptop?

I do not want to go messing around inside my computer.

I have a 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor.

Thank you in advance.

You can't program a used key from another vehicle unless it has been virginized, you need a legit techstream program and cable to do that or you could get it done by some locksmiths or the dealer.

You can use a 64bit machine just create a 32 bit virtual machine inside it.

This is what I did. Virtualbox and Windows XP. There's a YouTube on it. That's the one thing that finally worked after hours of frustration.

I got v12 running on Windows 7, newer versions should run on Windows 10.

That's what I did as well. And I'm on Linux. Works fine with a cheapo eBay cable.

Reviving this old thread. I recently downloaded Techstream onto an old laptop because i needed one dedicated to my shop for tuning my LS460. Problem is, its asking for a dealer name, dealer phone, dealer code, and state region...any ideas where I can get this information?
