I have a 2011 LS460L AWD. The AFS light has been blinking and I finally decided to look into it and get it fixed.
I took it to the Lexus dealership where they charged me $90 for a diagnostic fee. They said the wire has short somewhere and it will be another $400 to fix it.
I did some research online and Clublexus and it looks like not too many people have posted about it with an LS but the ISF owners found that they can unplug the AFS ECU and the light goes out without any adverse issues.
Today I gave that a shot, FYI in the video and thread for the ISF and IS the AFS ECU is on the driver side of the car. In my LS it is in the passenger side. Just unclip the kick panel and pull away the carpet and its in there. I unplugged it, the light went out, no more warning lights on. BUT.....now the light is on that says auto with the headlight symbol and is blinking. Not what I was hoping for. To be honest it is less annoying as the AFS light because that light causes the car to say "Please see dealer" in the area between the RPMs and speedo. The auto headlight that is on now doesn't trip whatever sensor to alert the car that there is an issue so that is better.
Have any of you LS owners had this issue? If so what was your fix other than spending $500 at the Lexus dealership.
Um, no I did not miss that post. He said his lights "bounce" up and down at stop lights. I have no issues similar to that. Just the AFS light blinking. I mean sure, I could spend $27 to fix it and hope it is the same issue, I guess.

Okay my bad, I wasn't clear as to what the actual issue is. So the lights are adjusting as designed? Did they say where the short is located, one of the AFS components in the headlights or an ECU module? Not sure about your model year, but my '07 has an AFS switch to the left of the steering wheel that may be worth a try if you have.

I have an 07 LS. I unplugged my afs ecu to eliminate the afs message. I had no more messages after unplugging it. My auto headlights during the night or day work fine. They also shut off if the car is off like they should.
The 2011 must be wired a bit different. I'm curious about the auto headlight message If you turn your headlights to off instead of auto does the message go off?

They did not say where it was at. I’ve tried pressing and holding that AFS light off button but it doesn’t do anything.

Sadly I think you are correct. For whatever reason that auto headlight light blinks no matter what. I’ve tested it day and night and with the switch on auto, off, on. Nothing changes it.
Yes, I’ve read that one. I was going to try that method and just remove the fuse. Well unlike in their car, The fuse attached to AFS is also the same fuse for the horn, blinkers, and a bunch of other things that I need. That would have been the easiest fix if the afs fuse was on its own.
