Default DIY replace factory rear LED dome light

Starting 2015, LS460 started with factory LED interior lights.

My rear LED dome light wasn't working. This is how the original looks like after I removed them. Removal is easy. Pry out the cover. Remove 2 screws. Disconnect the power and remove.

First picture is LED side and second is backside where there is a power plug.

I searched internet and asked around here but couldn't find the original Lexus part. Even if I had found it, I assume it would have been ridiculously expensive. So I searched eBay, measured original, studied plug type, and ordered this.

Test fit. The connectors plugged in very nicely even though they may not have been designed for the plug.

With light turned off.

Removed LEDs from the original board so that backing of new strip can stick well.

Original panel back in place and wire routed behind it so that new strip is in a good position to be stuck to it.

Getting original LED strip screws in place was little frustrating but worked in the end.

3M backing now stuck to the original LED strip. Test again without the cover.

Test light with cover on. This is whiter and brighter than Lexus OEM LEDs. (Compared with front dome lights). I was afraid if it was going to be too bright but it isn't.

With both dome and spot lights on.

Some of these steps can be used for other years too. e.g. For 2013 & 2014, you can follow this thread https://www.clublexus.com/forums/ls-...d-upgrade.html

LED strip came with 3 different connectors for non-LED originals.
I hope this helps some.

Yep. Thats very much what did a while ago. Sure made it a big difference on how bright it is inside now.
