First time LS owner! Plus some questions :)
Hi everyone!
So for the longest time I absolutely loved the design of the LS, especially the newer ones, and I finally pulled the trigger on certified pre-owned 2016 LS 460 RWD with only 21K miles on it (1 previous owner, bought and serviced at the same dealership; belonged to a snowbird who lived here in S. FL. for half the year and garaged the vehicle). it is in incredible shape, you can only see minor wear on the leather seats, otherwise the interior and exterior looks spotless! I've been driving it since Tuesday and absolutely love it! I came from a Corolla so the upgrade was a bit of a shock
but after taking care of my family's needs it was time to treat myself for my upcoming 40th bday
The car I got is pretty much a base model with very few extra features; it has upgraded wheels, all weather package (deicer, headlamp washer, bigger battery), blind spot monitor, comfort package (front seats cooling/heating), read sun shade, one touch trunk, heated wood steering wheel (I LOVE THE FEEL AND THE LOOK OF THE WOODEN STEERING WHEEL).
I have few questions about the operation of the vehicle:
I notice that on the headlamps there are two main bulbs I guess on each side, but no matter what I do only the outside one turns on. the turn signal, fog lamps, high beams all work fine, except the inner of the two main circular light sources never lights up on NEITHER side. is it burned out? or does it only come on when it auto-magically senses it would not blind other drivers?
About the headlamp washers: do they turn on together with windshield washer, or can ONLY be turned on manually using the button next to the dashboard brightness buttons? I tested them out yesterday and noticed that I had to press the wash button 2 or 3 times before they fully extended out, and after they washed the headlamps there was no way to hide them back. initially I though they were busted! so I went inside to google it, and when I came back out they were back in the closed position. I washed headlights again and noticed they very slowly retract back. mechanically sparking, they are probably brought up by the fluid pressure and retract as the pressure in the lines drops. Correct? Or are they broken?
Finally I will say that the car came with 2 years of full warranty still on it, and 2 years of free maintenance, and I purchased additional 2 years of bumper to bumper coverage for the peace of mind (and a hefty $2150). then again I drove Japanese cars my whole live and never had a single thing break in any of them (my first was 1994 Acura Legend and that's where I developed the taste for luxury sedans... the SUVs never did it for me; later on I drove a civic, another civic, and corolla, while wife drove a Honda CR-V and now rides in a Pilot, though after I pay off the LS she's promised the GX
gotta keep she-who-must-be-obeyed happy LOL). I did own two German cars, a VW GTI and Jetta, and both were peaces of junk that were breaking down frequently!
Thank you for reading!
P.S. I live in South East Florida and purchased the car from JM Lexus. they always have a few gems in the show room and I almost got an RC-F but the price on it was just bit too much...

Congrats on the new car! Definitely a nice upgrade from the Corolla.
See this thread for headlamp info - https://www.clublexus.com/forums/ls-...3-of-them.html
Basically, the location that's doing nothing is probably where the near infrared projector for models with Night View and the Advanced Pre-Collision System would be, if you had those options.
The headlamp washers only come on with the button, which makes sense. Most people don't want the front of the car getting watered every time they run the window washers. I've had my car more than two years and have never used the headlight washers once
I must try them out one day!

Photos or it didn't happen!
Congrats and welcome to the family! Thats actually a pretty rare car, most red ones come with the parchment interior. I like yours with the black much better.
This is actually not true. If you pull the windshield washer with the headlights on, it will also spray the headlights I believe one time every 3 or 4 times you pull the windshield washer.

I had an LS and loved it. I moved from FL to CA with the car loaded up with personal items and two cats. Never felt fatigued or had a sore back. I suggest you take serious time to read the owners manual, especially about personalized/customized settings. Some you can change and others that only the dealer can do. They will usually make these custom changes for you once, free of charge, so be sure you've researched and thought about what you'd like changed. Be sure to read about changing the cabin filter as some models require the air recirculated button to be in a certain position to avoid breaking a plastic gear. Mostly, just enjoy.
Congratulations and welcome to the CL!
Beautiful color and be prepared to be amazed every time you get in! We have a similar story: I came from 07 Sonata and picked up low mileage 16 CPO few months back as an early 40th birthday gift
.
The third light is a shell for infrared for cars with Advanced PCS as others mentioned.
I haven't tired the headlamp washer feature yet.
BTW, I just learned that LED strip light above the glove box and below the wood trim in my LS is burned out. Many members have experienced this issue as well. You may want to check it out.
