Default Transitioning from 2015 RX to 2014 LS

So, I have always been amazed by the LS and am a big fan of the 2014-2017 but have been in a 2015 RX 350 F-Sport as I have a young child, golf clubs and a long commute to take said child to school.

I found a 2014 LS in Liquid Platinum that I am considering picking up this week as the mileage is higher but the pricing is exceptional plus certified for (2) years by Lexus.

What is rolling in my head is, am I going to regret going from an RX with a child, car seat, toys etc. to an LS? I am tired of being another mommy dad in an RX and want to enjoy an LS but changing from a higher ride height to a sedan is jolting.

Also, I have an issue with my seat in my RX which will require $2,500 to repair so I prefer to apply that to the LS. Open to thoughts as I need to make a decision this week.

I don't think you'll have an issue at all. The LS has tons of room in the back for a kid in a car seat, the trunk is plenty big for strollers, etc. I don't think theres an issue here at all. The LWB is awesome with kids, but even the SWB is plenty big.

My LS is not our primary family vehicle, but I drive my 4.5 year old twins around in it all the time, and we even take it on trips over the minivan every once and a while. No issues at all.

LS is a much better ride than the RX.

Makes me feel better, and although I wanted the LWB, aside from not finding one I would have to yank out my water softener to squeeze it in the garage which is a no go.

I am considering keeping is seat to the right side in the rear so I can see him easier and avoid attached to the hump. Wifey worries about a collision from that side but I reminded her the LS is a tank.

I am also scrounging up coins for that gas hit but luckily gas is cheap in Texas

Appreciate it!

Yeah obviously both of mine are in the outboard seats, I wouldnt worry about it. Is he front facing?

I don't think you'll take much of a gas mileage hit! Premium fuel obviously but the mileage is pretty similar.

Front facing and we will be working on kicking my seats! No kicking in the LS ha.

The LS has all features I want except the radar distance control but I guess I will just have to put down the newspaper and drive (I kidd).

It has 2 keys, will grab to upgraded mats, etc. I have the service records and it is clean plus original sticker. Anything I should inquire on with the dealer?

If it drives well and checks out, a 14 is pretty solid.

As for the seats, I use these:

https://www.amazon.com/Brica-Deluxe-Kick-Mats-Protector/dp/B00B7M7CLA/ref=sr_1_3?crid=13X6JZPYC8ZAR&keywords=brica+seat+back+protector&qid=1576016958&sprefix=brica+seat+%2Caps%2C183&sr=8-3 https://www.amazon.com/Brica-Deluxe-Kick-Mats-Protector/dp/B00B7M7CLA/ref=sr_1_3?crid=13X6JZPYC8ZAR&keywords=brica+seat+back+protector&qid=1576016958&sprefix=brica+seat+%2Caps%2C183&sr=8-3

I only put them in when the kids are riding in the car but they work great.

I've had mine (2015 LS f-sport) for a year and a half and the more I drive it the more I love it. My kids are teenagers and there's plenty of room back there. I think you should go for it--you'll be happy.

As for the car seats, I'd just make sure to put down something between the leather and the car seats so they don't chafe the leather over time. Harbor Freight moving blankets are perfect and cheap.

I think you'll be extremely happy in a LS. Plenty of room in the back even in the SWB. Have you ever sat in the back of an LS and seen how far away the dash looks! I can't even imagine another 5 inches in the LWB.

I hope so too, I am scheduled to go inspect it Saturday (an hour away).

Question: I really wanted the chrome version of the 2014 LS 460 rims as it goes great with the Liquid Platinum and trim and figured it was a dealer upgrade like my old Infiniti M35. Do the dealers still keep these in stock or will I need to find them the OEM route?
Below is a car with rims I am referencing followed by the LS I am purchasing, the Liquid Platinum would look so much better with chrome vs. stock matte in my opinion.

Not my car! But these are the chrome rims I wanted for my Liquid Platinum

that's my car😀

Chrome wheels on Liquid Platinum looks very good with black interior. I test drove one before I bought mine (white with gray) couple of months ago.

I have 2016 LS SWB and find the space is adequate in the back seat. Also it has a huge trunk. I have a booster for my 6 year on the passenger outerboard, car seat in the middle, and driver side outerseat is for MIL (yep I know).

Made a day trip from Dallas to Austin (200 miles one way) last week and I was grinning ear to ear during the whole ride.

Why? Quiet and comfortable ride, ML stereo, NA v8 with 386 horses on the tap to just to list a few.
BTW, I averaged 24mpg on my road trip!

Impressive on the gas mileage! I assume that is floating, cruise control on and no AC, ha. Impressive nonetheless!

The deal I have worked is 2014 LS SWB heated wheel, no ML, black interior, 70k mileage, 2 year Lexus certified at $26.2K, 1 owner all records. I requested quote to swap for chrome rims but no response yet. I will have to keep it for awhile since wifey is mad I keep switching cars...

I have wanted to put chrome wheels on my LS for a while. There is a much cheaper alternative to your dealer's quote. You can exchange your standard alloy wheels for chrome-coated alloy wheels from Detroit Tire and Wheel. I am attaching the link to your car and wheel combo.

Thanks for sharing, viable option to definitely consider however prefer OEM as I had coated rims flake after having tires replaced.
