dented exhaust
Apparently I bottomed out and put a crease in an exhaust pipe. Now when I start the veh, it sounds like a plane. Dealer said that there are "fins" in the pipe that were moved and that it does not effect the performance of the LS. To fix the noise, $3,500.00! any ideas?

If I was out of warranty, I would run by any decent muffler repair shop and just ask for an estimate and detail of the work they are willing to do.
Normally if your getting a lot of noise, there is a break someplace before the muffler, This could just be welded by a small shop.
Lexus and most new car dealer shops live by replace don't fix. Their estimate is to replace the part, not fix it.
Don’t take this the wrong way. The biggest problem is not the sound coming out of exhaust pipe. The problem is you take it to the dealer.
If you started your sentence with “my (trusted Indy) mechanic” it would have probably ended with “to fix it would cost $80”.
So find a good Indy, take the $3,400 you’ll save and take yourself on a trip to Hawaii to celebrate.
