I no longer have an LS460. I do remember when I got my '14 LS460 I noticed the loud, long beep at shutdown. After making sure that I had the shifter in P and the ignition OFF before I opened the door or unbuckled the seatbelt I no longer had the loud-long beep.

Lexus does have a TSB for certain 2013 LS(0061-13) that requires ECU programming to minimize draw from cars that go dead after not being driven for two days.

This should have been rectified post 2013 but who knows.

If the switch fails in that it always report the door as being closed, wouldn’t be somewhat apparent to tell if the door puddle lamp is also off?

The Puddle Light not coming on would certainly be an indication, as would the Courtesy Lights not coming on, and the Door Status Indicator not showing the open door. But I think lots of drivers miss these indications. And many people don’t correlate these indications with a dead battery.

I have had battery issues before with other brand i had (Honda) it was brand new and kept eating batteries on a yearly basis for some reason. I believe its an issue with the car and the honda dealer couldn't find the problem by that time.
They changed 2 batteries under warranty and i bought the last one.
