There is definitely a loud tone when you open the doors with the engine off and the lights on, even though the system will turn the lights off as you also said. They added this somewhere in 2013 or so, I really dont know why. Myn 2013 GS, 2015 LS and 2017 LS all had/have it. It can be turned off with techstream/Carista, mine in the 2017 is off.

Lexus does have a TSB for certain 2013 LS(0061-13) that requires ECU programming to minimize draw from cars that go dead after not being driven for two days.
This should have been rectified post 2013 but who knows.

The Puddle Light not coming on would certainly be an indication, as would the Courtesy Lights not coming on, and the Door Status Indicator not showing the open door. But I think lots of drivers miss these indications. And many people don’t correlate these indications with a dead battery.

I have had battery issues before with other brand i had (Honda) it was brand new and kept eating batteries on a yearly basis for some reason. I believe its an issue with the car and the honda dealer couldn't find the problem by that time.
They changed 2 batteries under warranty and i bought the last one.
