Default Battery failure

Went to start the car yesterday morning and the battery was dead. It was a Lexus battery installed by Lexus two years and nine months ago. Jumped it myself in the garage and drove to the dealer. Battery was replaced on a prorated basis. Seven year warranty on the new battery. Cost me a hundred dollars.
What have others experienced relative to battery life with Lexus batteries?
I know all batteries are made by only a few companies, but less than three years is much less than expected for a battery to last.

The standard starting battery from the Lexus dealership is most likely an Interstate battery, not the same as the OEM one installed in Japan. I'd say 2-3 years is not particularly good even for a non-Japanese flooded battery. Perhaps what they last installed was old stock, or you have a drain that is killing it.

I'd suggest you consider an Interstate battery from Costco next time. It has a 3-year full replacement warranty and cost <$100 new. In your case it would have been a free replacement had it died that early, though the downside is that you have to do the install yourself and return the $15 core. Most batteries have a date code, and at Costco it is clearly marked, so I always look for the newest one they have in stock even if I have to pull it off the back of the rack.
