The GS460 and AWD LS460 have log tube style headers similar to what was on the 4.3. That’s where most of the power loss is. ISF headers are nearly identical to what’s on RWD LS460s. So the difference in power comes from the 0.4 L that Yamaha put in.
I wish there was a header setup available for the LS460 AWD. Too small of a market?
I know the Sikky headers wont work(per Sikky).
Tundra headers might because the blocks are the same. Sikky said the LS460 steering shaft is what makes ISF headers incompatible.
Tundra headersmight offer more clearance. (Front driveshafts)Unwilling to pull the trigger myself.
RR Racing being able to tune the ECU is a godsend.
I don't see any benefit in doing this. The factory intakes already have plastic ducts that run up to the grill that feed cool air back to the air filters. Also, since we're talking about an N/A engine with no forced induction, intake air temps aren't going to make a noticeable difference in horsepower unless there's a significant problem with the factory design, which there isn't.
If you're doing it because you want the engine to sound different, this may accomplish that, but there won't be any other benefit.
Alrighty guys! So, after removing the front cover and headlights, i found a small but doable path that requires minor trimming to the rad support. Ive look all around and this seem to the best way to go about it. Going in between the headlights and the rad/rad support. Made a quick diagram for reference. Already have a shopping cart with most of the intake piping (carbon fiber) i should need. any tips or ideas let me know! not super serious yet, but planning and mapping it out makes me wanna do it more!
hey whats your deal with being a **** on EVERY post? Its our car and we can do what we want. last thing id ever do is listen to some random arrogant ****.

RELAX! YOU were the one in YOUR original post who asked: "What do you guys think?”....... Now you know.
BTW! I agree 100% that it’s your car and you can do what you want to it so..... "Git R Done"
I'm really not trying to be an ***, but I think you should ask yourself what you're trying to accomplish by making this modification. I've spent a good amount of time doing my own modifications on sports cars in the past, mostly for performance, so I have some experience in this regard. I'm making this suggestion because I've made some bad choices with car modifications myself in the past and regretted it and I'm trying to prevent you from going down a path that might damage your car, with no potential benefit in the end.
I don't see any benefit from this and I can only think of reasons not to do it. It's been said before, but it's your money and your car, so if it's what you want to, then by all means, do it. But if you're looking for advice, my advice is to not do it. Having the air filter behind the grill would make it a pain to get to for cleaning/changing. You won't gain any power. It's going to be a lot of work to do this, plus it'll lower the resale value of the car since very few people who want these cars are going to want to deal with a modification like that. My advice if you want to make these kinds of modifications is to get a different car that's better suited to modifying. There are a ton of good platforms for performance modifications where this type of thing could be beneficial, but this isn't one of them.
I recall flipping the top lid on the air cleaner on 4bl carbs to help the engine breath. No increase in power, but was fun to punch it and hear it suck the air. Those were the days...

Over in the LS400 forum they talk about the "JBrady mod" which entails taking a cutting tool to your airbox in order to expose the filter element for TRUE RAM AIR
Way back I ran the Jbrady air box mod for a few years. I blocked off a helmholtz chamber, cut a section out of the air box, removed part of the headlight gasket, and made aluminum heat shield. It made the noise I wanted and I could care less what F anyone thought.
