Default oil leak

I have a 2008 Lexus ls460 L. Recently after driving it I started to smell the odor of burning oil. So when I got an oil change I told the place that I smelled oil and they checked underneath the car. They told me and show me that oil was on the front driver side strut . could this be a leaking gasket ? I believe I read a post where there is a so called easy fix and a more expensive fix. which route should I go?
