2012 LS460 Engine Air Filter Change
Just changed both air filters. Pretty easy. Had to give a good tug from the back of the gray engine cover first to get it off. Then, it just lifted straight up.
Tip on putting the black air filter cover back on: there is a piece on the cover that hinges onto the bottom piece on the side closest to the center of the engine. Insert this side of the cover first in the hinge, then push down the other side furthest from the center. Took me about 3-4 minutes to figure this out. Didn’t help that it was dark outside. Maybe in the daylight this would have been more obvious.
Also, if you need any of the black plastic snap screws that hold down the black covers, Lexus dealers sell them for $2 each. I purchased 12 of them and keep them in the glove box in case I break some messing around in the engine.

Hi Overlander, welcome to Club Lexus.
Just a tip for you, whenever you are going to do or buy something for your LS, do a search here on that subject, or if you don't find anything, start a thread and ask the question. As Chris (roadfrog) told you, you could have saved a bundle on those push pins.

Here is 100 for $6.49. Not sure you get the tool but there are not hard to get off with a trim removal tool or screwdriver.

Thanks everyone for providing the links. I'm a new owner of 2014 Lexus LS460L AWD and I like to work on my own cars so these clips will defiantly be put to good use.

Changed my air filters today and noticed there was one of the "black plastic snap screws" that hold down the black covers under the air filter.
Thought the mechanic had just dropped it by accident, but then I noticed one under THE OTHER AIR FILTER!???
Is there a reason for this? Or do mechanics just keep a few in there for storage in case the next mechanic looses one??

Do not go to that mechanics anymore. Air filter boxes are not for holding anything but the air filters.
