Default Floppy Driver Side Exterior Mirror

Seems something has broken within the mirror base?

It can be pivoted very easy - too easy - compared to the passenger side.

It no longer retracts when locking the car.

Anyone else experience this and come up with a fix?

Thanks.

Mine did that a while ago. I was about to open it up but than pushed the side mirror button a few times in the car. And it reset the mirror and now is tight and works fine again.

I accidentally bent mine back the first week I had the car. I was horrified, but manually pushing it back it clicked into place. Try that first.

Can you clarify what you did? Which side mirror button? Thanks.

Okay, Brother the button on the upper right side. Toggle it back and forth a few times and see what happens. If it still does not help than you will need to open the housing up. There are good videos on youtube to show you how.

^^^ ah, got it!

The LS is the little woman's car so I don't drive it often so not totally tuned into all the bells and whistles.

I'll give it a go - much thanks, Johnny! You are a gentleman and a scholar.

Tried Johhny's suggestion of toggling that switch - no joy.

OK, opened it up and see there are busted parts.

Can I replace just the innards or do I have to get an entire mirror assembly?

Suggestions on a source for used Lexus parts if so?

Much thanks.

Thats too bad. I cannot remember was there a spring inside the housing? Sometimes the spring clip pops off and you just have to reset it again. Snap it back down. If that does not work than look on ebay for a whole unit. No matter the color because you can reuse your own housing.

Thanks for the tips. Will try the first and if that doesn't work, will pursue the second. Thanks!

BTW - is there an on-line workshop manual for the LS 460 out there? I haven't checked the FAQ sticky yet - it might be in there?
