Default We are LS460 spoiled

I was about to buy a 2019 ES 350 with loaded over the December to Remember event

about 50 k plus taxes and fees.
my payment would have been around 649 month for a lease 15,000 miles

I have been going back and forth between my wifes 5 series and my new LS 460 and i am getting spoiled
what's so amazing is the small details
the buttons
the radio
the ac system flawless
the quietness
the highway presence
the sweet v8 when you press in
the great brakes
the neutral handling on off ramps when driving normal
the brake hold and lounge chair for a front seat

went to stop by dealer today for something and sat in the same car that i was going to purchase
night and day difference its not in the same league
the seats also felt hard as a rock in comparison to what i love about the ls460
even the room in the ls460 is amazing left to right and up and down
sat in a ls500 which i happen to love the look in and out and its too claustrophobic.

picking these decent mileage Ls's at 15-20 k is probably the best bargain on the new and used market
nothing compares

amazing stuff

yup, exactly it makes much more sense to buy a gently used car for a good price,

Best $15k-$20K bang for the buck hands down. I had cash to put down on something newer and more expensive or get something new and boring with no car note. My 2008 purchased in 2017 was the responsible buy and scratch my luxury car itch

Just spent 6 days driving a 19’ ES350 loaner while I was having work done to my 13’ 460 L. I cannot believe how much I missed my car. I have owned 2 ES and another LS in the past but this was the biggest shocker for me. The ES is a great car but it cannot be compared to the LS. The FWD alone makes it feel like a much cheaper car. And the interior space difference between my 460L and the ES is staggering.

and the non awd for that platform is a deal breaker
tires break free every chance they get with heavy throttle
no comparison between fwd and rwd

its funny yesterday i did a comparison about the subtle details of the ls that make it special

picked up breakfast for the wife this a.m. and got in her 5 series

the turn signals are four times the loudness as the LS, never noticed it till this a.m. when i have been driving the ls more

I know what you mean. I've been having some vibration problems that have been like chasing a ghost. Took it to the Lexus dealer in Southlake with no help. Took a look at the newer models on the showroom floor while I waited for it to come out of service, and realized that I would rather spend hours and thousands to get my 2007 LS460 L back in showroom shape than buy one of these new over priced claustrophobic versions. I bet our predecessors said the same about the old models from the past. Maybe I'm getting old.

I had this same experience when my LS was being serviced. Had a brand new ES and it drove very rough on the road. The interior, while nice, was just not the same standard.

while I know there is a difference in class, I thought the fit and finish of all Lexi would be about the same. Not so.

Love my LS 460 L also.

I drove a 2013 A7 for a week. Took it back three days early. Now have 13 GS luxury pkg and there are many things I miss about my LS!

Maybe this is Lexus being proactive to make "melting dashboards" easier to replace in the future

Very spoiled.
But so what? My 07 has only needed a starter and consumables. At 160k it's time for new struts.
Oooooohhhhh!!!
I wouldn't mind a 12 Sport package. 2005 tech and all!

The LS460 is a thing of absolute beauty and sure-footed (AWD) in all situations, with enough power to get you into trouble while having the brakes and tires needed to get you right back out of trouble.
Its technological aspects are also very impressive even today. And the chassis, the unibody, is really quite a LOT stiffer than the early gen LS.

But it just feels like Lexus cut costs with interior materials on this car vs. the 2nd gen. I can feel it. For example, the sunvisor. Look at the part of it on the back side where the cloth is joined together at the seam. It sticks out and presents a rough surface along the whole edge. That's trashy Kia-cheap. The LS400 had leather sunvisors that felt great. There are other complaints but this is just a minor example.

And we all know about the melty gooey dashboard. Mine has a ghetto sheen to it thats blinding in the sun but I'm afraid to take it to lexus because they might say "It isn't cracked and it isn't sticky enough. No soup for you! You pay me nao! $25,000 diagnostic fee! Plus tax and shop supplies and environmental fee!"

Driving today on a beautiful day and with the new interior I have a new tag line lexus should use but never would for obvious reason.

"Lexus makes driving "a perfect world in an imperfect world"

With the isolation and comfort of my car, I notice I am so much more chill and think better before my meetings with work.

cheers Lexus
