Default Market value inquiry please - 2014 LS460 Base RWD

Howdy good people of CL

I am looking at a certified 2014 460 Base RWD with 60k miles at a Lexus dealership, the car is L/Certified
is $31,900.00 a good price ? and do I have ground to take it to an even $30k number?

I have been browsing the 2014-16 models. On yours, depending on what options are on the car, the KBB says a CPO is $29,600 and I didn't factor in things like mileage or sound system, etc. But you can jump on KBB.com and enter all the data and get an idea of where to start.

Decent price for a certified 2014. A 2013 could go for the same price. Does it have Mark Lev sound system?

I've been itching for a 2013+ as well. It's hard to imagine a next level LS460 over my 2008 LS460 which I LOVE driving! I tend to bail on cars when they are nearing 100K miles. I may make an exception on my 2008. Doesn't make financial sense for me to start up any type car note when my 2008 still gets compliments and drive perfect.

If you have ML on the 2008 it will be a step down for any of the later MY LS460s. Otherwise the cars are more or less the same mechanically. I'm assuming that you don't have to fix control arms, brake actuator, etc on your current car.

With those miles, you should aim for a sale price south of 30 grand unless the car is highly optioned.

MMR on that car, adjusted for region and mileage but not for CR or color, shows $26,700. The warranty adds $1k in value and with that in mind, I wouldn't want to be any higher than $29,500. Because the car is at a Lexus dealer, I would not expect them to work with you at all. Their cars are almost always higher priced and willingness to deal is far lower.

Good luck.

thank you for the data, looks like the sales guy is willing to die on that $950 hill.
He threw a silly tantrum in the phone yesterday. When I thanked him for his time and wished him good luck. He almost lost it ... needless to say, I’m going in to negotiate this morning face to face

I don't know what it is, but from personal and anecdotal experience Lexus dealers seem to be of the opinion that their used cars are worth more than they are. While I'm sure there are deals to be had, my opinion is if you bought a car from a Lexus dealer, you likely paid a lot more than you could/should have.

I'll add this. The telephone is a terrible car negotiation tool. If you really want to make a deal, you need to be there in person. A dealer is very unlikely to give anyone their best price sight unseen. You've got to get in front of them so they know you are a legitimate buyer.

i ended up walking away, couldn’t reach an agreement with the sales manager. Deal feel through on $1450 contention ($950 off on the asking price and $500 on my 2004 LS430 trade-in)

It wasn’t meant to be.

also, is that a reasonable ask for my current LS430?

It depends on how quickly you'd like to see it gone. $8500 strikes me as about a grand too high, but I lack knowledge of the Austin market.

MMR on your LS430 is $5,375, adjusted for mileage color, and region and assuming a value neutral CR. Expected retail is $8,475 so you"re priced exactly where you should be Anything over $7k is a take.
