When I bought my 2013. mileage was secondary to condition and service history. Knowing full well that I would put close to 1k miles per week on my car, I didn't mind going with a drastically higher-mile car with a stellar service and repair history. At 139k miles, a great many people would have walked away with no consideration of this car. But 139k, commuting between the Milwaukee and Chicago suburbs isn't anything like 60k miles in a major city driving downtown. The price difference for the extra 70k miles was $10,000. Was it worth it to me? Absolutely. It's all in what you are willing to pay for what you get. Had I been looking for this car other than a road warrior, I might have paid more or moved up in year from 2013 to 2015. But for less than $19k, I'm still pleased. And now at 143k miles.

Whether cash or finance you need to be able to maintain any vehicle. It's true that no traditional bank/lender will finance older vehicles but all you need to do is google and you will find plenty of online lenders who will finance them albeit at a higher rate and if your credit is good enough you can still get a very competitive rate.
