I had a 2004 LS 430 and now have a 2012 LS 460. Both terrific vehicles. I wish I had kept the 2004, it was in pristine condition with only 71000 miles. I miss it. Only have so much room for the vehicles, so I let it go.
I have read a good bit about the LS 500, but have not been in one or seen one. I think Lexus has made some mistakes.
My thoughts: I would definitely not be interested in the 2018 for several reasons, no V8, it is some 700 pounds heavier than the previous model, it is bigger on the outside with less interior space and the slopping roofline gives less headroom.
i think Lexus has the only flagship vehicle without at least the option of a V8. Big mistakes.
We'll see how the sales numbers stack up. I'll be watching.

It has a rating of 416 HP so power shouldn’t be an issue. Don’t get me wrong, my preference is a NA V8 but the industry trend is the V6 with either a turbo or super charger for just slightly higher MPG. I don’t think the slight increase in MPG is worth the extra costs of servicing a turbo or supercharger long term.

Just saw an ad on the NFL Network that Lexus is offering $5000 lease cash on the '18 LS 500.

I was anticipating the new LS 500 style and features would be a deal maker for me. I was disappointed and not impressed. I saw one at the dealership and the LS 500 is larger but looks smaller than the previous model. The instrument panel and dash board is terrible with to many small buttons everywhere, plus the front grill is horrible. The interior looks cheap. No V-8 offered. The new LS 500 isn't the vehicle for me but thumbs up to those that like it. I like my 460 better.

I agree completely with the posers about reasons I do not like the new generation flagship.

The only reason the trend to turbo charged V6's is government intervention in the market. I want my V8, MPG mandates be damned. Also do not like heavier but smaller, not a winning combo. I do like the exterior sleek look but bought my 2014 LS460L to get the room and the largest trunk I could find. Taking this away with loss of a V8 options makes it a non starter for me

I don't understand how I and others, who are just enthusiasts, seem to see these things and the manufacturers get it wrong. I predict sales will suffer. Already saw the $5,000 lease incentive, not good on a new model.
I am fine for now, but am already thinking about a V8 G90.
lexus might go back to a V 8, but they have problems that go beyond just the V 8.

Sales must be bad because I don't see any on the highways.

I am planning on getting a lease- back Genesis G90 in just over a year. By then, the 2017 models will be coming off the leases. However, there weren’t a lot of V8 models leased or sold so I may have to travel. Have you had a chance to test drive one?

Quote: I have waited for a whole year for the LS500, what a disappointing car, rides like crap, interior is wierd with these un explained lines and that v6 is not even close to be smooth, after the drive i stepped into my LS430 and it drove so much better, sounds crazy how a 15 years old rides better than a brand new 'luxury' car.
The new LS500 is NOT A LUXURY CAR, its a very nice sedan that is over priced, i rather get the new ES and pay half, I am waiting for the new A8/S8, I am done with the Lexus brand as they
no longer stand for comfort and luxury, but will keep my LS430 until is falls apart .
I think this is more than a little dramatic LOL.

I've driven a couple of LS500s, I bought my 17 LS460L new right on the cusp of the 500s coming out because I had a feeling from watching the reviews that it wasn't going to work as well for me.

First let me say, the LS500 is a great car. Its just a very different car than the LS460 or previous LS models. Its bigger outside than an LS460L, but smaller inside. The roof is low, and the car feels narrower and rear legroom is more like the SWB 460 even though the car is longer than the LWB 460. This is due to the car being front mid engined instead of front engined.

The car is beautiful IMHO, inside and out. The interior is unique and material quality and comfort are excellent. The engine is powerful sure, but not as smooth or effortless as the 460. The car rides well and is quiet, but its not as soft a ride as the LS460 for sure, nor is it as quiet. It does handle a lot better.

Its a great car but it just doesn't feel like "an LS" to me. Would I buy one down the line? I might...just understanding its a different kind of car.

I've also driven a new ES, and nobody would say they'd rather have a new ES vs an LS unless they can't afford the LS. The LS is still a worlds superior car to the ES.

The G90 is a great car, and almost identical in feel and drive to an LS460L. They clearly benchmarked the LS460 when they designed it, if you closed your eyes you'd be hard pressed to think you weren't in an LS. Great car for a traditional LS buyer to go to. If I had to choose between a G90 and an LS500, I would probably still choose the LS500.

I felt the exact same way until I test drove it.ls500 is a tremendous car, it handles and sounds very good, its hard to believe its a LS. It drives like a German car while keeping the lexus comfort in mind... the fit and finish is better than our current ls460s, the seats almost remind me of the older 430 I used to have. (I am talking comfort wise). The car looks very good in person inside and out; I picked up a new GX and LX from the same dealership and the sales guy basically gave me the keys to the ls500. I can't tell if this does not have a v8 when you press on the gas it goes and handles curves very well

. I would love to own one of these and I am thinking about it how to afford it!! I strongly encourage you to test drive one!
this is the one I drove its at cherry hill.

After driving the LS500 I wanted to trade my ls460 on the spot, it was that good. I like the car to be little sportier I always thought the LS can little better that the pictures dont do it enough justice...

Being 6-4, it sounds like an LS 500 won't fit me. The LS 430 has great interior room. The early LS 460s fit fine, but for some reason the '13+ models seem tighter, both as to head and shoulder room - very strange.

I wouldn’t trade my LS460 for one after driving it, but I could see how some would if they like sportier cars.

The thing is most of us have owned LS cars for many years. The reason we bought and continued to be faithful to them is the soft ride, roomy interior, and V8. I don't want a sporty car. If I wanted a sporty car I would't have driven a LS400 for 16 years. I was ok with the turbo until I drove one. Don't like it it isn't smooth like I'm used to for 19 years. I wish them luck and I hope they sell like hotcakes.

I posted some sales numbers over in the LS500 forum last week. They appear to be selling very well.

Quote: Only started to sell well after massive discounts
Everything in the segment sells with massive discounts. Discounts are no higher on the LS500 than they are on the S Class or 7 Series, etc. I can get $20,000 off an S Class with zero effort.
