I am having the same issues, ABS, VSC, and Brake Malfunction. c1391. Is my car safe to drive until I save money to fix it?? It's telling me to pull over and not drive it.

How much will it cost and how long to save up that amount? It's your brake system beginning to fail. Get it fixed ASAP.

The quote from Toyota was $5,200 for c1391 brake malfunction and front axle wheel bearing. I could get it fixed tomorrow but I'm buying a house & closing next week. So I have to wait. While I wait im trying to decide if I want to fix or just trade in for newer truck. 120,000 miles on ls460

whats the current value of your car?
If I was in your shoes & the repair cost is at least 1/2 of the value of your car, I would sell it.

My 2 cents.

His car is an '07. Low miles for the year. He posted an issue a couple years back. If he gets a second opinion from an Indie shop, the repairs may be much less ($2000-3000). Lexus tends to recommend replacing all the brake component in this situation where an Indie may not. Trade it in and he'll get very little. Do the repairs and a private party will want this low mile car if it looks good. Low mile LS are hard to find but there are buyers ready with cash. Even with the sales tax credit in FL, trading as is would be a big loss.

After a brake fluid change/bleed (for my 2007 LS460) at the dealership my symptoms mostly disappeared ... but not entirely. The clunking when working the brake pedal all but stopped. In my case, the Brake System warning comes on occasionally. When it does, I stop and restart the car and the message is cleared. It happens mostly when I start driving on an incline, so I suspect 'tipping' the brake fluid is the aggravator. When I look in the reservoir it looks like they overfilled the fluid ... but I have left it be. If the problem worsens I will try the $1000-no-Techstream solution discussed here to see how that works out. Btw, my belief is that if the actuator fails, I won't actually entirely lose my brakes, but only power-assisted braking.

Having driven 3 of these with total actuator failure I'll warn you right now that's it's near impossible to stop the car if it's going 30 mph with the emergency bypass. It's not like manual brakes or a normal system that looses the booster, it's more like trying to stop a full size truck with drums and only one working brake line to a rear brake.

I would treat this as a serious, life threatening situation. The car is warning you, how you gonna feel if you ignore it and hurt/kill someone, yourself and/or total your car. Not worth gambling with lives at stake with a 5000 lb car.

I have been in contact with a local garage that will allow me to bring in the brake actuator assembly and they will put it in. This will save me $1,600 on the part. I just need to be sure that the garage has Techstream 2.0 or higher so that the brake lines can be bled correctly. With used car prices so high and rates up there it will be difficult for me to trade in for a newer vehicle. I love my LS but it seems to have expensive things go wrong.

I lucked up when my actuator started to fail. A Lexus dealership down in Mobile, AL had them on sale for like $950 so I ordered it and the local Toyota dealership put it on for me. I don't think they usually do that but since it was an OEM part I had they did. This was a couple of years age but they charged like $650 for labor.

Be sure to get the most current brake actuator assembly. Around 2014 or so, Lexus issued a new & improved brake actuator assembly. The improved part number 44050-50110 Brake Actuator Assembly replaces 44050‑50170, 44050‑50150, 44050-50110, 44050-50090, 44050-50130. Online, direct from some Lexus dealerships, the part currently quotes in the $950-$1100 range. Sometimes you will see part number 04003-45450 stated to be superseding/replacing 44050-50110 but that is NOT correct. 04003-45450 was the part number Campaign ZLG assigned to the cost of the 44050‑50110 improved brake actuator PLUS the required brake fluid.

Try Yelp and search for shops that specialize in Japanese cars. They'll have the proper training and software. If you allow the shop to supply the parts, there will/should be a full warranty. Not the case when you supply parts. Only you can decide if the $ savings is worth it.

This link is for MyLParts.com. https://www.mylparts.com/oem-parts/l...lve-4405050110 That's the online parts department at the Lexus dealership in Rosedale, California. Use discount code CL5 (ClubLexus5) and you will get a 10% discount. That price, $900 before shipping & tax, is $100 less than the lower of the two prices you posted.

Default Codes disappear while driving?

I have not driven my car for three weeks and I got in it today drove it 12 miles. after driving it 6 miles all the lights went off. the check engine, the ABS malfunction, the vehicle stability control, and !!! Warning light. My top speed during all 12 miles was 50 mph. what would make these codes disappear while driving? I have a video MP4 format on my iPhone, but I can’t post it. I actually have a video of them going off while I’m driving.

here’s video -
