New to me LS
Hey all...
Picked up a 2011 LS base last month with 42k on the clock. Have owned multiple Lexus vehicles over the years (currently have 3). Did alot of research before picking up this car i.e. steered clear of of air suspension etc. My big question is this... the melting dash problem...does it affect every 07 to 12 eventually? I dont see anything sticky yet but couldn't seem to find the answer with a search... thanks in advance.

The sticky dash and door panel issue seems to be more prevalent in southern areas of the U. S. and it ususally takes 7 or 8 years of exposure to heat for the deterioration of these areas of the interior to become apparent. My car has mostly remained in a garage but the sticky areas become obvious when exposed to the sun during the late spring and summer months. I will have my door panels refinished but I do not know what the solution to the glove box door is. So far, my dash is not affected.

Thanks for the response. My car is 7 years old and spent some time in Florida . No real sign of any melting but was curious if they all were prone to it...

I also have a 2011 and with a black interior in sunny Southern California. No signs whatsoever of sticky areas.

my 2012 was a southern car, always garage kept before I acquired it in June, lo and behold the first time I left it out in the sun not garaged in late july the door handles got really sticky, the dash is good for now, but its an issue everyone will run into if left out in the hot sun in my opinion, they all used the same compound mixture for these parts during the 07- 12 production runs.

Firstly, congrats on the new car and I wish you good luck with it.
My 2007 has spent its entire life in MA and nothing is sticky. It is outdoors all the time.
However, the winter salt has raised havoc with my wheels. They look terrible. I keep debating whether to have them refinished or to buy new ones.

Thanks for the replies....as far as the wheels I feel your pain. We had an 06 GS300 years ago and it was a beautiful car. After a few winters the wheels looked terrible and actually started losing air due to the rust on the lip of the tires. Had to have my shop remove them and strip the rust to keep air in the tires 😟😟... this is a common Lexus/Toyota problem...

From Mass also, Car stays in the garage most of the time but it gets hot, about 80 degrees. No issues with dash. Dash does get a little chalky looking after a long duration of heat waves but that is just chemicals drying up. No issues with chalky look when tem is under 75 degrees My friend 2016 Highlander with a black vinyl dash looked chalky also. Get a window sunshade if your car sits outside in direct sunlight
