I book a appointment with my local transmission shop tomorrow have transmission fluid change out for $150.00. I would have done it myself but there are not a lot of pictures or videos showing how it's done.

Ask your local transmission shop how they will measure the transmission fluid level. Per Lexus service procedure, the transmission fluid level should be measured between transmission temperatures 95F-108F (35C-42C). If you local transmission shop doesn't know how to measure the transmission fluid level by Lexus maintenance procedure, don't use them. It wouldn't be worth saving a few dollars by trusting your car to someone who doesn't have the knowledge or tools to do the job right.

I ask them about the temp they said they follow the Lexus service procedure and they said they are going to get 6qt of transmission fluid out replace it with 6qts new synthetic transmission fluid. I also ask them about filter inside they told me if the pan is leaking will then take pan off and replace filter and gaskets other wise Lexus does not recommend replacing filter. Guy said I been working on the Lexus LS460 for 11 years never replaced filter and never had problem with 8 speed transmission. He said your Lexus LS460 is in good hands.

Looks that your indy shop knows what they are doing. BTW, per most DIYers' reports, a simple drill and fill typically takes about 3.3-3.8 qts of transmission fluid, and a drop the transmission pan fluid replacement gets out about 1 qt additional transmission fluid. Transmission fluid temperature should be accurately monitored with Techstream (this is the tool that most indy transmission shops don't have or don't bother to to use, resulting in overfilling transmission fluid). There are claimed alternative transmission fluids to Toyota/Lexus WS but so far there has been no report that Toyota/Lexus certified any alternative brands of transmission fluid, yet.

I need to call my local dealer, I wanted to get this job done but, I was worried about a $500+ job. I'll find my local Toyota dealer and try there. Assuming that Toyota is Lexus (or the other way around) and they both use Techstream, I wonder if I can get the software updated at the same time...

Pay the extra 50 bucks and get it done properly! Didn't they offer to "flush" the transmission?

I’d take either price. My dealer in columbus said it’d be $350!
Thought about using a fluid extractor...
