Default Tires - current best one?

Hi everyone,
I understand that this topic has been discussed several times. I know there have been some clear favorites on here, namely the Pirelli P7 plus' and the Michelin Primacy. I wanted to know how those who have used those tires are doing now. Do you still like them, are they still as quiet/comfy, and how do they handle wet to snowy weather? I have the standard 18in rims, and currently have a set of crap Kumhos that the dealer threw on before selling it to me.

I am currently looking at:
- Michelin Pilot HX MXM4 - priciest, but I would be interested if they were the best. I only saw one person with a 460 in the review section online at the discount tire site.
- Michelin Primacy MXM4 - I had a set similar (slightly lower speed rating one) on my LS430. Loved them, but not all the reviewers liked it that much.
- Pirelli P7 plus - Lowest priced, overall good ratings, but several on there disliking noise and wet traction. I know this is a forum favorite, maybe it's different with our heavier cars?
- Michelin Premier LTX - I know this is intended as a light truck tire, but I did see quite a few sedan owners running the tire with decent reviews.

I am open to other suggestions as well. The point of the thread is mainly to see what tires they are running and how they like it over a longer period of time. Those who have picked the popular P7 or Primacy, would you do it again? Thanks everyone for your input.

My next set will be P7's only because I picked up a set of 19" Sport wheels with 2 near-new P7's already mounted and 2 other brand tires ready to be replaced. Sub'd to see guys responses re: P7's

Pirelli Strada from Discount Tire. Their exclusive house version of the most updated P7. They ride amazing.

Thanks for all the great posts guys. I've heard of some people stating the LTX's tend to be harder due to the potentially heavier cars they are designed for. I wish I could just try on all these for a week at a time and pick my favorite lol. I will probably wait for another week or 2 (going out of town with the car for a week) before changing them. Keep em coming!

So to summarize from glancing at the thread posted by Mbodall - LTX was loved by one owner. Another owner had both an LTX and P7 and preferred the P7. The Premier LTX some say are about the same as the normal A/S ones, but another poster mentioned that it may ride a bit rougher due to being designed for an SUV.

Update: After some more debate and research, I went with the Michelin Premier LTX. I chose it mainly due to mostly positive wet/snow reviews these tires got (important here in MI) as well as reading almost all positive reviews from Lexus owners of various tire websites. Just got them mounted yesterday and wow what a difference! From the first bump I hit I could immediately tell the car just took the impact better and now really feels like it's gliding. Also, it is definitely a quieter tire than what I had before (the dealer I bought it from threw on some Kumhos that were only 600 for the set lol). I debated a lot between these and the Pirellis P7s many seem to love on here and the Michelins. In the end I really wish I could've tried both to see which I liked more. Anyways, if anyone in the future sees this thread, I would be happy to give an update on how the Premier LTXs are holding up.

Please do come back and share your experience with the LTX. I tried the LTX (albeit on an LS 430 in 18s) and found the ride a little bouncy. At the time, it was the only version of Premier that fit. I ended up with Pirelli P7 Plus on both an LS 430 and LS 460. Michelin just released the regular Premier in March 2018 that fits the LS 460. I thought most places will let you return tires within a month or 1000 miles if you're not happy with them. That is what I did with America's Tire/Discount Tire when deciding between Premier LTX and Pirelli P7. Maybe that is not an option though if you order through TireRack or somewhere else.

I wouldn't have chosen the LTX, but I'm interested to see how you like them on your car.

I'm 10k miles into my third set of P7s on the LS460 and they're doing great.

I believe I saw the regular Premier A/S were available for the 19s, but sadly I have the 18s. If the regular A/S was an option I would've taken that without thinking about it. I think the ride is certainly smoother than the previous Kumhos that came with the car. I noticed it glide over the bumps better. I felt that since the car weights about as much as a normal crossover/midsize SUV perhaps it wouldn't make that much of a difference? Only time will tell I guess.

It was a tough choice. I think a part of my decision was based on me enjoying the primacy tires on my 430 so much, and the Premier was supposed to be the newer version. If I don't like the LTXs long term, I may swap earlier to the P7s and try those out. I know you are a big fan!

How much mileage are others getting on the Pirelli P7+? At the rate I'm going, I estimate 39K before changing at 3/32nd. I don't feel safe waiting until the wear bars and will even replace tires at 4/32nd if we're about to enter the wet season. The tires will be prorated against the 70K-mile warranty so I'm not concerned about cost. Just interesting that I won't get anywhere close to the warranty claim, same issue with Michelins now too. I am intrigued to try the new Premiers next year though, despite the lower starting-tread-depth.

I also liked the Primacy MXV4 tires I had, thats why I like the P7s, they're a very similar tire.
