I mean like change the interface. In my opinion the icons are way too big. I was thinking something along the lines of this: the home screen and the interface.

My update:
i have never installed my pre purchase vline2 unit. Still new in box.
So so I contacted grom to ask them if I shipped the unit back to them could they install the OTA upgrades and the 8.1 kernel update.
today I received their response. For $50 paypalled to them they will update and reprogram my new in box unit.
you skeptics were partially correct as you predicted there would be updates as these units were used.
i believed you so I put the unit away for a year.
currently we use a older iPhone for music into the Lexus premium stereo using a cable.
my wife’s iPhone 6 is failing and the new iPhones have no headphone plug.
time to update the grom unit and install it then upgrade wife’s iPhone and use the grom WiFi into the cars stereo/nav unit.
price includes return shipping

Newer iPhones may not have a headphone jack, but they come with an adapter that does the same thing. I do it all the time. I also bought a small bluetooth adapter that I use in my mini jack. Either way, you can't see the info on the monitor.

everything is relative, I am busy. Unit is not installed. I would like to put it in ready to go. I saved more than the money needed to update the unit by buying it a year ago and sitting on it. Actually I am ahead. Even after everything is totaled up.

So I did the Android 8.1 update this weekend. What a PITA! Make sure you at least backup your Google components. You lose everything and have to reinstall, including your apps, music, etc... Make sure you have wifi access as well, as the downloads are extensive via LTE. Luckily, I did, but just getting in front of this for other. Took me about 2.5-3hrs total. I can't see that much difference in performance or features, but I'm still working through it. The install went through with any issues. More to come.

The most time for me was taking the car apart to get to the unit. The actual install from the sd was pretty quick. And yes I had to reload all my apps but I didn't really have that many so it wasn't that bad. The biggest thing for me was able to change the font size to something smaller. I'm able to use Spotify now since the layout is not huge anymore...but sadly the app icons are still huge!

I've noticed occasionally that sound to my left front speakers will go out. Does not happen with FM, CD, etc...just with VL2. Contacted support and their only suggestion was to completely wipe the unit and start over. Anyone else seeing this?
