Default New project 2007 LS460

Hey guys, well I just picked up a used 2007 LS460 for cheap. I am thinking about replacing my current IS250 with the new big brother. She is a little rough and I will need a little TLC. I am new to the LS so I have already started looking through the stickies, but I can use a little guidance on things to look out for. She has 159k miles but the engine sounds strong.

I’m thinking I may need some suggestions on suspension upgrades, I believe I have atleast one blown shock, but I haven’t had time to inspect. The biggest nuisance for me at the moment is the driver side door, which was clearly repainted and the color doesn’t match. Not sure when I will address that. Also, have some damage on the rear passenger quarter, but I will see what I can do with that. On to the pictures.

Oh, also. I didn’t see anything in the stickies about to stock audio system. I seem to have an issue selecting the Aux option and the sound system sounds like there may be an issue with an amplifier, because the sound isn’t as good as my IS or my ES.

I picked it up at Copart. Out the door with fees I’m at $4700. Has a rebuilt title now though.

Any ideas on the audio system or recommendations for suspension setups? Looking for a slightly sportier ride.

Congratulations!
If you want to fix factory suspension without upgrade then you can look at Rockauto.
I can't tell much about upgraded suspension or audio upgrades.

Did you buy from Copart as an individual consumer or went through a broker or are a business user?
Can you share your experience in this bidding process?

Honestly imho easy fixes. It looks like they painted the door but didn't blend into back doors and quarter panel. I'd knock out all mechanical fixes first then hit all body work at one time. As far as the audio you can locate all of that off eBay fairly inexpensively. You can pay Lexus or an independent mechanic do a food once over of what the car needs mechanically and work though the pinchlist. Good luck, can wait to hear about your experience.

I purchased from Copart as a individual consumer. In Oklahoma you don’t have to have a dealer license to purchase from copart. The process was smooth. This is the second car I have purchased from Copart in the last year. The first was my 2008 IS250 that was a theft recovery.
Since both purchased have been of local cars, I usually run down to the facility the day before the auction and check them out. Then I log in to the online auction when it starts and do the real time bidding. This LS went for $4,000 and the extra $700 was fees.

Yeah, I think the repairs won’t be too difficult, I just get a little intimidated with paint and body. Oh, and are the starters as hard to Replace as everyone claims?

Cool!

Here is a suggestion for driver's door. Just replace the shell instead of trying to color match.

Lol, nice! I was planning on seeing how much may buff out with compound? I just picked up a new Autopia Buffer kit and I would like to try it out on something.

You're probably referring to the older LS (pre 2007), where the starter was buried behind the engine, against the firewall, requiring removing a lot of the upper engine parts. The later models are far easier and located on the traditional spot near the bell housing.
