Default Good OBD II scanner

Does anyone have experience with these in their LS's or GS's for that manner, I was going to get a cheap one just as a precaution when shopping to see about any codes for a LS or GS. Is there something you should look for or get, can it read a upcoming code or one that was recently erased or went off?

I was thinking about something like this.

If you have a Windows laptop, order Techstream. I got it for $35 from this guy on ebay - https://www.ebay.com/itm/Mini-VCI-Di...72.m2749.l2649

I have a dead Windows laptop that I can't working no matter what, actually the main reason I tried to get it working recently was for Techstream.

I read people mentioning it but never looked into it. Sounds kind of pricey from just a quick glance at their site, $40 a year for something I doubt I will use more then once a year if that. Does it do anything a OBD 2 scanner won't? It says "basic service", not sure what you can do with that.

Find a used Windows 7 laptop on ebay, you would pay $50-100, pick up a replacement battery for $20. If your working on a Lexus or Toyota, nothing can beat Techstream.

If you were local, I would take a peak at the laptop you have...It's what I do for a living..

LOL, even though it is basically obsolete now I would still love to get it working just as a spare laptop, techstream, and do some basic things, it was expensive so I did not chuck it. I have replaced the motherboard twice, cpu, memory sticks, checked to see if screen worked, just about everything, nothing works, so annoying taking the whole thing apart to replace the motherboard and it still won't boot up or put anything on the screen. It is a Thinkpad with Windows XP that just stopped working a few months out of warranty of course around 2008, does not boot up or put anything on the screen but the green light comes on, gives a series of beeps indicating motherboard.

I should just get a cheap used laptop for the techstream but I don't have a Lexus anymore yet.
