The “cold”weather has fixed my TPMS problems for now. My sensors are original. I had them checked in early December and found three not transmitting and the “take to dealer” warning was on. So I bought a set of 5 for my 2007 thinking they are dead. I have yet to install them.

The temperatures here dropped have into the 20s and 30s. Drove the car today - no TPMS warning and all pressures are showing. Go figure.

Here's a question, About a month before these issues, I replaced the caps on my tires with ones with a Lexus logo on them...

Like these...

Picked them up via a Wish (look for the app for your phone), and they were like $3 for the set.

Would valve caps cause problems with TPMS systems ?

The only issue I could find was the potential of a metal cap corroding and fusing to the stem. This would make it difficult to remove to add air. Apparently most stems are brass, and wet and salty winters can cause the to fuse together, and if the problem is severe you might need to replace the sensor and all. Take the off for a few days and see if your issue goes away.

I called the local tire shop (TownFareTire for those in NE area) and asked them. As there is only 1 sensor gone (I'm getting a code C2121 - Transmitter ID 1 not Received (main) ), They looked up my LS460L and said they can replace it (programmable model) for $50 installed.

Is that a good deal ? As I have been looking around and they can be $21.99 (lowest fully refurbished Toyota model) for a repaied one and $30+ for a new one.... this is installed.

Thoughts ?

Sounds pretty good. They do need to dismount/remount/rebalance the tire, so that seems fair enough.

$48.23 later, the problem is fixed.... It was just odd where it would come and go... Annoying but, at least it's fixed. The Tire place topped all my tires to 38psi....need to fix that tonight.

No. I've had the Lexus logo caps on my wife's CT as well as my LS for years without issue.
