So my guess is they've seen what I've seen... all the planned maintenance in the world won't make your battery last any longer. Having said all that, the battery is easy to replace and not too expensive.
I was talking about the hybrid battery if it was a hybrid LS which costs a fortune to replace.

I too am interested in knowing what went wrong on a 2010 to come anywhere near $5800 in repairs.

I have a LS600h now and I drove a 2001 LS430 with the ultra luxury package for almost 8 years with not one single problem. Its all about luck and how you drive your car of course. With the 430 I waved the warranty and with the 600 I bought the extended warranty just for the heck of it. You do get piece of mind of course but if you figure how much you save on not buying new. When it was time to sell the 430, I literally had people lined up to buy it and I didn't have to worry about trading it in to the dealer /stealer. I bought the 430 with 12k miles and sold it with exactly shy of 100k miles and I get the pleasure of still seeing it and still being thanked for giving it up. I hope I have the same experience with the 600. With the 600 I don't think I will ever give it up no matter what happens.
