Update as of last night- grand total for repair is going to be $15,850. Car not totaled (to my knowledge) - no one from my insurance has called me telling me it would be. I'm glad the car won't be totaled. I have comfort knowing what happened in the accident and knowing the car will be fine after spending an hour talking to the Tech at the body shop. To me, it's better than buying a car with a reported accident that you never quite know the story on. I have total confidence in this shop to do nice work and am looking forward to getting the car back. For the next 3-4 weeks I'll stay in the Cadillac XTS (not a bad car, actually) that I got as a rental.

And I was told by the diminished value guy that he handles things in FL so I have to assume it'll work out somehow. He's a family friend and not charging me for the help. I have to send him the repair bill, which he then uses to go back to the insurance company/companies to fight for diminished value.

Like I have said in previous posts....... A good body shop will perform magic on a wreck.
The main thing is....... That you walked away from this accident without major injury.

$15000 doesn't buy much bodywork these days (an air bag can cost $3000 - that's $6000 for two)! The damage mustn't have been as bad as feared (and black isn't as hard to match as a lighter metallic). Hopefully the car will be as good as new when you get it back.
