Smile Hello from a Newbie.

Hi Guys,

I am a newbie on this forum, I just recently purchased a 2010 Lexus LS 460 AWD. This is my first Lexus. I don't know a lot of features that the car has and slowly navigating my way thru everything.

What I wanted to ask you folks is, when I bought the car, it had 100K miles. 1 owner car. I want to make sure I get whatever necessary maintenance that comes at 100K done in a timely fashion.

Q1) What is type of maintenance is expected at 100K? (What does it include, etc?)
Q2) How much should I expect to pay for it?
Q3) Should I trust a Lexus dealer for it OR look for 3rd party shops for an estimate?
Q4) Are these cars easy to maintain? Any gotchas I should be aware of?
Q5) Should I look out for anything to do (in particular) for example, any special fluids to change?

Any other tips you guys can give me? This is the first V8 I have owned; not sure what to expect, what to do?

Thanks guys,

Correct, no timing belt on the LS460, it's a timing chain.

Welcome me to the forum! If I were you I would find a good independent mechanic and take it there vs the dealer.

Thank you for officially welcoming me, by the way you stated, "Correct, no timing belt on the LS460, it's a timing belt."

So, If it is a timing chain, do I need to worry about anything else?

Haha, whoops. It's a timing chain, not a belt.

Not it really anything to look out for. Spark plugs, Lexus says to do them at 60k, if they haven't been done they should be done. They're very reliable low maintenance cars.

That was just a little welcome joke. LS460's don't have a timing belt or any pr steering fluid. They have a timing chain you don't change and electric steering with no pump or fluid.

They do have tranny fluid, it's just a "lifetime fluid" lol (I know you meant to say brake fluid)

AWDLS460

Welcome to the world of big smiles. It looks like from the picture that the color is Deep Sea Mica (Blue)? If you don't mine would you mine sharing what you gave for the LS. A friend of mine who is 86 now and is in a home has a 2010 LS460 AWD that her attorney is going to sell sometime in the near future I hope. Just trying to get a ideal what the 2010's are selling for now?

I meant pr steering fluid which is the same as tranny fluid. Just don't let anyone sell you a pr steering flush or timing belt.

Welcome to Club Lexus. Congrats on your new car and I wish you good luck with it.

A good starting point is this sticky at the top of this forum. Sort through all the thread titles and pick out ones that seem appropriate. If you can't find answers there, or in a search of this forum, then go ahead and ask away!
