Self Park
#16
To bad Lexus didn't improve its self parking feature instead of doing away with it. Many domestic vehicles do it well without any curb rash and applies the brakes.

Hi *****, if your rear view camera screen displays arrows and two small boxes at the bottom corners with car icons, you indeed have the self parking feature. Check out these youtube videos for regular parking and parallel parking using the self parking feature.

Turns out I do have it , and its pretty cool
I agree with others, you need a clear view of the spot or it gets confused and just stops
My main concern is I'm not sure if I can totally trust it not to hit anything, like the curb or another car , its cut it close a few times , and I stopped and took manual control
But its cool nonetheless

Didn't want to make a new thread but does anyone know what could be the culprit on an 07 460 with the self park feature, but when you try to use it , it says "service the APGS at dealer" or something like that
The AFS warning is also on and I'm not sure if they are related or not
I might be buying this car and just trying to figure things out

Not sure if it'll help but when I got my lexus, I got the same message, when going into reverse it would sometimes say (not always) "Service APGS at dealer" or something similar to that, turned out one of the parking sensors was bad, it actually tells you which one is causing the issue, well it did for me anyway when I was in reverse in the top right of the screen there was a picture of the car with a circle and a line through it on the sensor that was faulty. Replaced it with a used one from ebay that I had to get painted (no programming needed, plug and play) and it works great. sensor was about 30 bucks and it was 40 for paint.

The parking feature is hit or miss on my LS460L.. When I go to work I normally back into a spot, so almost every day I try it. 3-5 times it works, meaning it finds a solid spot, not a random space (not even in a line in the parking lot), other days, it's dead on... right between the lines and a perfect park.
When it's completely off, it just takes too long to get it "tweeked", sometimes backing up a little and hitting the button again MIGHT work but, 95% of the time, it's just quicker, if it does not see it the first time, to cancel and just manually back up.
I wish Lexus just continued it and tweaked it more instead of dumping it...

I guess Lexus dumped the self parking feature? My daughter's Ford Focus is $60k cheaper and it will self park in a very tight spot with little effort and its self parking isn't' complicated to operate.
