Thanks! When I bought the car almost a year ago, I was secretly hoping the LED strip would work, at least to take a few pics . But it was too worn out and everyone I asked quoted 2-300 bucks to make it work (maybe). Wasn't worth the effort or money.

I always liked black grills. Did it to my 08 (with Plastidip) and have done it to many of my previous cars as well. I'll probably remove the plastidip and spray paint with semi-gloss black (trim paint).

Well done!

Thanks, Chris. I hope you find the information I included on sanding and painting useful. Good luck, and look forward to seeing the pics of the painted grille!

What a nice mod, really glad you did it professionally and kept it classy! Take a few pics of the full car like a 3/4 shot so we can see the overall look. At $220 this is probably one of the best mods you could've done, bravo!

Thank you, Dr. J, appreciate the kudos! I will take more pics in the coming days to post. Unfortunately, we don't have bright tropical weather ALL the time, unlike some of our lucky bros . Hopefully, this weekend...

comotiger, I hate that I missed the development of this thread, however I can still see the before and after photos and ive gotta say, that when I first looked at the first "after" photo, my first response was that it changed the entire look of the front end of the car for the absolute better! That combination of black and chrome is stellar... And in conjunction with those triple beam headlights and the black housing...Chrome Lexus emblem..it just looks mean!!
Love it man, excellent job!

Thanks, Crowe, appreciate it. The look turned out exactly as I had hoped for. Having the Nightfall pics definitely pushed me to do it. I think the 2013+ looks mean to begin with. The blacked out grille makes it more so. Blacking out the grille will look great on the pre-2013s as well by making the emblem pop. Roadfrog should post more pictures of his car showing this.

Your more than welcome my friend!
I would actually consider this modification, however my vehicle isn't black. And indeed you are very correct, as the front of your model is quite aggressive, however that painted grille is like icing on the cake!

I just checked your car on the other thread, and it looks pretty dark to me. Regardless, the black grille should work well with any body color, just like the F-sport grille.

Nice upgrade on the grill, I’m thinking of doing the same. The stock grill takes away from the black / chrome scheme.

Looks great! Just curious, did you look into the possibility of buying an OEM Nightfall grill?

The thought never crossed my mind! Just checked prices, and the 2014 standard or Fsport grille and surround cost roughly a grand. The rare Midnight edition grille, if even available, would be considerably pricier. Moreover, I did this mod in early 2017, and the Nightfall edition was a one-off for the 2017 MY, so I couldn't have bought the grille even if I wanted to. The paint job has held up well, so it is a great value.

Thanks! It cost $220 plus $50 for a 2 day rental. I had it painted in Jan 2017. I didn’t use 3M protectant over it as planned, but the paint has held up really well.
