The best extended warranty Lexus offered in Canada is the gold plan, not the platinum plan. So if your audio has problem, it won't be covered by the gold plan. It is only covered by the platinum plan

If you look at their warranty page:

https://www.lexusfinancial.com/pub/w...ice_agreements

it clearly says that coverage is available for 4 years or 50,000 miles in the box to the right (PLAN AVAILABILITY)

that is the platinum plan apply for newer car, but you can also buy the plan for car that is more than 4 years or 50k miles. That has to be bought at dealer when you buy their used Lexus car. That is how I got my platinum warranty at 5 years old and 72k miles in US

But if you already own your car you can only purchase the warranty up until the factory warranty runs out. If you buy the car used from a dealer other than Lexus, the same applies, and if you buy a certified car you would purchase the certified warranty. That's the point.

Hello, I just got off the phone with the sales guy. Yes the plan he told me about is the Lexus platinum warranty, NOT a third party warranty. So, since it's through Lexus, it's good at any dealer. This is zero deductible, unlimited miles good for up to (he said) 5 years beyond the original 6. Which is 4 years of new warranty plus 2 more of CPO warranty. In other words I could buy this car and have it under warranty (by Lexus) until the year 2024. Not a bad deal.

I'm going back on Saturday to look at it again, this time with sweetie.

Adding additional 5 years (platinum warranty) has to be done at the time of purchase since your car is CPOed. Last Friday accompanied a friend who ended up buying CPO 2014 GS. He did the same, added additional 3 years Platinum warranty, unlimited miles.

Any how, good luck!.

Good luck, Bliz, the CPO warranty info from Steve and satiger is accurate, as verified by your sales person. You would have unlimited mileage coverage thru 2024 (on DD/MM of original sale). That's awesome!
The only thing I would look into is whether you can buy this Platinum warranty from some other Lexus dealer than the one you are considering because different dealers quote different rates for different time periods. I know that is the case for Platinum warranty for used cars since myself, satiger, and a few others here purchased this product within the last 2-3 months. Contact Toby Rivers of Shreveport Lexus or Troy Dietrich in MA.

A part of the consideration would be whether or not the car has an air suspension.

If it does have air suspension (which is relatively high-maintenance, expense-wise, when it goes bad), I would seriously consider the extended warranty.
