Audio turns off randomly

Audio turns off randomly
It's happened in both FM and AUX modes. I'll be driving along with the stereo
playing and it turns off displaying 'AUDIO OFF" on the NAV screen. If I hit the
on/off/volume **** it turns back on right where it left off.
I'm not referring to an incoming call scenario. This is something else I can't figure out,
