Dripping Trunk

This is getting very interesting, indeed.
My trunk lid looks like bigsherv's, with only two holes closer to the ends of the panel. Oddly, the rubber cushion with the 4 weep holes in jimrd's 2015 car does not extend beyond the trunk close button, and makes me wonder how that piece is attached to the trunk lid; maybe glue as he says. I have a 2014 LWB. Bigsherv, what MY is yours? Fto1 has a 2013. It's strange that all these trunk lids have different gasket and rubber cushions.
Steve (SW17LS), what does your 2017 trunk look like?

Maybe Lexus started to add the trunk trim piece on 2015+ models in response to trunk drip issue. I realize the molding assembly lists compatibility with multiple year LS 460s, but check out the trunk videos below. The trim piece is absent on pre-2015 models. Additionally, I have a subscription to ALLDATAdiy.com for the 2013 LS and it does not list that trim piece in any trunk parts diagram.
26-second mark, 2011 LS missing trunk trim:
2:24 mark, 2013 LS missing trunk trim:
38-second mark on this 2014 is also missing trim:
8:09 mark on this 2015 has the trunk trim:
5:40 mark on this 2016 LS has the trunk trim:
This 2017 obviously has the trunk trim piece:

Excellent research, Fto1. Thank you! The trim piece showed up in 2015+ cars. Moreover, it is odd/interesting that there were some differences between 2013 and 2014 also. It will be good to know whether all these changes are dripping-related.

I called the dealership this morning and it was a lengthy chat to explain exactly what we're seeking because the parts person thought I was referring to water running off the back of the trunk and down the curve of the trunk lid (near the base of the back windshield). Anyways, I think we finally have agreement on the part. It is $25.66 and I'm planning to go get one during my lunch hour.
Below is a schematic on a 2016 model I received from the parts person (green highlighted part). Interestingly, the parts person also said the part is plastic, not rubber, and appears to be riveted to the trunk (his words). He also mentioned that the rear bumper has a different part number on the 2015+, which may also contribute to less water pooling beneath the trunk lid edge. That sort of makes sense because the 2013 bumper surface does seem to angle down towards the trunk instead of slanting away.

What do you mean, bigsherv? I mentioned to the parts person that a group of us in the Lexus forums were experiencing the same drip issue but he wasn't familiar with the site nor the issue. He even called over a foreman and the issue I described was new news to both of them. The parts person wasn't convinced that the plastic strip is the solution and re-iterated that he would hate for me to buy it and still have a problem because if I open the product then I won't be able to return it. For $26 though, I'm willing to experiment.

I was joking. We seem to all need different part numbers. I was implying you should have asked for the 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, and the 2017.
Seriously, just kidding.

All good, buddy. I recall the parts person not being able to find a corresponding part for 2013 at first, so I told him the part exists for 2015-2017. What he sent me was for 2016 but I wonder if it really differs between years.

I didnt order the part yet because I want to be doubly sure the part number is correct. LexusParts site has 76821 for $10 but it does not appear to refer to the same part on the diagram from the dealership parts person:

FWIW, the piece on my trunk is definitely rubber...the edges flex slightly if you squeeze them and the ribs give under moderate pressure, sure looks and acts like a gasket to me... still a mystery to me as to how it is fastened to the trunk lid, there are no visible means of support....would like to see a 15+ MY without the piece in place to see,,,,good luck to everyone trying to figure this one out, Lexus sure has thrown us a curveball on this simple little trim piece...
