Guys are 460's going for these prices nowaday? Seems pretty low imo.

I saw an 07 near-ish to the DFW area with 180k miles for $12k. agreed - prices are dropping!

 

It's also the time of year, no one's buying cars right now, they are Christmas shopping. You can find deals everywhere. That's how I bought mine...walked in there the day after Christmas...they were asking 25k...the book was 29k...and I offered 22k. They took it, then they tried selling me a one year warranty for a 1k bucks, which I didn't take. It's a good time to buy. And this was two years ago.

 

I didn't notice the ML sound system on those. That could be reason as well.

 

They are all base models, and as mentioned time of year. I am looking for a LS460, but none of those met my requirements for options.

 

I got my 2007 a year and a half ago for $25000. 64000 miles, nav, ML, etc. They are big expensive cars; they depreciate heavily; and, contrary to general perception, Lexus vehicles depreciate almost a quickly as any others (yes, they are better than any other brand, but the difference isn't that great).

Lastly, if you want a real belly laugh, take it to a Lexus dealer and ask for a trade-in estimate!

Used to be for a while you couldn't even get 2011's (redesigned control arms) or under $30k and now we have a certified one in that price range.

It also doesn't have any options other than the ML. So it's bare bones with ML, and 70K miles and it's December. That is a decent price. Yes they do take a hit, but it's almost like they take the hit to a certain point, and then stop.

 

I kind of disagree on the depreciation comment...yeah the higher end LS460 depreciates a lot, probably because of its initial high price, but a car like the ES350 holds its value pretty well. I like the new body style and interior of the ES350, and I keep waiting for the prices to drop, but they've been holding steady. a year ago a used one was 28-32k dollars, with 30,000 miles or so on them...they haven't really dropped much since.

 

Seems like some dealers need some cash before the end of the year. Or something might be up with the cars. All four of those prices are well below typical values for the year and mileage.

 

Edmunds or Carfax did a study and it's likely there is nothing wrong with those cars. Car prices take a dive at the end of the year and into the beginning of every new year.

This makes the last week of December and the first two weeks of January the best time to buy a used car. You will pay less.

 

You are so correct. I just took mine in and he said that the reason for the low trade-in value was because I had high miles. I had to laugh at this one... I have an 2007 with 76K miles!

 

This is car salesman and manager 101. Our overpriced car is perfect and your trade although a very nice car is worth nothing. Then they will tell you to try and sell it on your own. They only take trades if they can get them for a couple grand under trade value most of the time. Gotta pay for those buildings and amenities.
