Those mileage numbers are similar to mine. I drive 60 miles a day to and from work - all highway. Add to that the city driving I do (and pleasure). usually higher mileage cars are highway numbers, which is good. I wouldn't be too concerned if it were me, but as mentioned by Pistachio, it depends on the price.
Just called for the price, they will call me back soon. Let's see what they price it at.
I wouldn't do it at that price, if it were $15k? Yeah, but why not look around? A couple grand more and you may be able to find one with 50k less miles on it...or even less.
As for the car, as long as the recalls are done, and the control arms, you should be fine. I know there are a few people on here with high miles...one guy has close to 300k on his with minimal problems.
Point well taken!
Side note: (I think you'll find this funny)
I was at the gas station yesterday morning and there was a 7 series at the pump in front of me.
The owner comes out and says:
"Hey, great looking car! I'd have gotten an LS but they're boring! You have a nice color but styling is boring and the drive is boring. And people say the build quality is lesser with the 7, but in all honesty, id rather have a nicer looking car, nicer driving car and deal with a few problems then to have a car that's going to lull me to sleep. But that's just me".
I asked his model year and he said '08. He told me I should have considered a 7 and I was honest and said I have read too many negative things and have heard about too many negative things about the 7 series for me to even consider it, but its a great looking car.
He said you cant go by what you read and what you hear, you have to own one, and that if he went off of what people had to say and what he read all the time, he would own a home, work where he works and wouldn't drive any car and either walk or bike to work.
The clock was ticking, so we paid each other respectable compliments and bid one another a good day.
Hey...to each their own.
That car he owns is one of the worst cars ever built, and that's not just my opinion, but fact. You can buy one of those things for peanuts, and with good reason.
And what's he talking about, excitement? A 7 series BMW?? That's exciting? We're not talking about a M5 here, and those things aren't exactly great looking either. I would have loved to have run into that guy and had him tell me my car was too boring. I would have asked him how many times he's been to the dealer in the past three months, with no one being able to figure out his electrical problems.
Its a swb.
If you take a look at the photo of the rear of the car, the model/trim will be notated there.
It would read as follows for respective models:
About 3 years ago I had an opportunity to buy a used car from that dealer. I did not like how they manipulate during the negotiation. I felt disrespected and literally stood up, thanked for their time and left. They came out the parking lot asking me to come back while I left. They also had the nice looking desk girl called me several times days later, till I told them I bought something else. Never consider buying anything from them again.
Looks like $17,399 is only their asking price. You should be able to get much lower. I personally would consider something else, also posting locally. Examples:
I did not think the orginal car posted was in bad shape. I would say average. 9 years old with 150k miles. Average. I'm sure there are better ones out there, but I would say value of this car would be determined by the mechanical condition. I did notice that the left hand of the steering wheel was damaged due to most likely someone that wears rings, left hand most likely wedding ring.
I actually wanted the white one but it was sold. Kind of want an L, but will be taking a look at the black one from SAC tomorrow. The black one from original post, the dealership keeps calling me at all hours asking me to come test drive it.
The "L" typically will have more options, but for the most parts, either car can have the same options. Only option I believe you can't have in the SWB will be the executive seating package, with is rare in the LWB anyways.
