Is it my starter or something else?!
One day all of a sudden, my LS460L with 130k would not start. Sometimes I only get a click at the starter and other times I get what sounds like a sputtering vacuum cleaner, then it dies.
The battery seems to be fine - horn, lights, Mark Lev, mirror motors, door locks etc all work fine.
The engine itself never tries to crank.
Thoughts?

The starter seems to be the culprit, I had similar sounds when mines gave out at about 90K mi. Only other thing is it may be the ignition switch. Research some of the threads to see if you can similar symptoms and what the problem ended up being
Agreed, both the switch and the wire connector on the starter have had reported issues. I mention the wire connector because I believe it's technically not the starter but the wire that plugs to the starter. Search.
1Putt and swfla are right. However, just be aware that it takes a lot of juice to turn over the engine. A weak battery could power small power draw items like door locks, horn, radio, etc., but not have enough to power the starter.
