I'm currently at a tire shop getting g what I thought was a new tpms sensor (now apparently, ironically, another one has a weak signal and it has to be replaced, whatever).
I had my psi at 40 and he told me that it was too high, and that it should be at 33 tops!
Thoughts?
I keep my 07 on the recommended 33PSI. And it is very important to check when the tires are cold. My understanding of cold is not driven for at least 2 hours? Correct or not?
33 psi all around has, indeed, always worked best for me. I only pump the spare a bit higher, only so that I get to inflate it less frequently before the light comes on during winter.
Random tidbit of information... The 600 requires 33 in front and 36 psi in the rear tires. It paid to read the label on the door jamb that I expected would be the same as on the 460
33psi is not low, what you're running is absurdly high.
My A6's fuel door says I should be around 33 also but I always fill to low to mid 40's so 50's isn't that bad. I haven't messed with the LS yet because I haven't had a chance to but currently my car reads 40 after my last service at Lexus on all 4 tires.

50PSI on the OEM tires on your Audi seriously could be over the max pressure for the tires. 50PSI is VERY high. The max pressure on the LS' em Bridgestones is 50PSI, meaning the manufacturer does not recommend inflating the tires beyond that pressure.
Your LS on 40PSI rides notably firmer and harder than its designed to ride. The difference is very noticable.

I'm not sure if they're OEM or not, but currently it has Bridgestone Potenza RE970AS Pole Position which have a max PSI of 50. In the winter I run Bridgestone Blizzak LM-60's which also have a max PSI of 50 or 51 PSI (I can't really remember which one but it's in the 50's). I typically fill to 42 PSI for the all season set while I run 45 PSI on the winters. I've never actually tried to run 50PSI on either of them though.
Obviously I'd never run the current tires on the LS anywhere near 50 PSI but if I was to get some after market tires I'd probably inflate higher. But like I said, they're currently at 40 since that's what the dealer set them to and I haven't had a need to change.
50PSI is pretty high, but if you have a tire that that can handle it it isn't unreasonable assuming you can deal with the ride. On my Audi I fill higher because handling is improved in the summer. Also in the winter, since I run a 35 profile tire, it prevents too much flexing of the sidewall. Also it helps with gas efficiency which goes in the dumps in the winter.
It's all up to preference though. If someone is comfortable running at 50 PSI, more power to you. If you like the comfort of 33-35 PSI, more power to you also.
