Default Drip molding problems help

Everyone has heard about the peeling vinyl wrap (or paint says the dealer) on the drip moldings that go from the hood to the trunk. I have this problem as well. But I just ran into another problem. Over the weekend while traveling I parked, pressed the trunk button and opened the door and got out to see and hear an awful sight. My trunk caught the end of the drip molding ripped it off my car and bent it so bad that bending it back instantly snapped it. I went to the dealer and just one side is 600 with all pieces needed and thats with a 100 discount. If anyone knows of a parts car in their area please let me know! Color is not a problem with me as I can get it painted or peel the wrap off and leave them chrome. Any other ideas would be appreciated!

Thanks

Mylparts.com has the OEM strips painted to match for $246 plus shipping. I'd replace the clips as well. Do a forum search for a discount code for CL members. Let us know how easy it was to DIY.

Thanks for the reply. I may order that and have the dealer install. Im not sure why it did it and the last thing I need is to replace it and the same problem to happen.

I know you said it was for one side, but are you sure? My dealer quoted me $302 for one side. Installation was $65. Fortunately Lexus paid for the part as a goodwill gesture, and I paid the labor charge.

I wonder how that happened.

I was looking at the screen with my service advisor and i'm definitely not getting jerked around. Maybe because its a LWB? I emailed Lexus and told them about both issues Ive had. I got a email back saying a case worker would be contacting me by phone within the next two days. Ill cross my fingers but right now its a major eye soar. Its sticking in the air and is lose. I would be extremely happy with a deal like you got. Do you have any proof that you were compensated? Maybe that would help!

I don't have any proof. I emailed Lexus at Lexus Customer Satisfaction [Customer_Satisfaction_Inquiries@lexus.com] and they called me back. On the phone they said they contacted the dealer and informed them that they would pay for the part and I would be responsible for the labor. They gave me the name of the Service Manager that they spoke to. I do have the work order that shows $0.00 for parts and $64.99 for labor, but it doesn't show that the drip molding was actually replaced.

Try that route, it can't hurt to ask.

I guess it could be that you have a LWB, but still twice as much?
