Default Startup rattle fixed!

I changed my oil this weekend with 0W20 Mobil 1 (9 quarts!) and a YZZA5 genuine filter. Before the oil change I had a slight startup rattle (the kind you hear when you start an engine after changing the oil) lasting about 1 second on every cold start. After the change, the rattle is gone! The last oil change was by the dealer in CA before I bought the car last September (about 2500 miles ago), and I wonder if they used 5W20 or 5W30 dino vs. synthetic. The old oil was reddish-brown vs. the nearly-transparent Mobil 1 – is TGMO this reddish-brown color?
Anyway, it runs perfectly, and I’m happy the startup rattle was related to the old “mystery oil”. I will report if any hesitation issues appear with the M1.

A simple solution to your problem and you don't put many miles on your LS.

Yep, I store it during the winter since it has never been in salt (CA car since birth) and I want it to last forever.

Costco had a sale on Mobil 1, $10 off a 6-pack. So, I stocked up on that and the Techron that was $5 off a 6-pack:

I usually pick my oil up from Walmart. 0-20 Extended Performance. Ranges from 26 to 28 per gallon and the car needs two each time. I try to stock up when they go on sale or if there is a rebate. My local Costco never has 0-20 in stock unfortunately.

It would be nice if one of you that is using the Mobil one product could send a used oil sample for analysis.
I would like to compare it to roadfrogs Blackstone report. I will pay for it.

I would be willing to do this at my next oil change. Will not be for another few months though. Any recommendations on who to send it to besides Blackstone?

Thanks great. I would say just order the free kit from Blackstone labs.

After you get your report I will reimburse you for the cost. Please accumulate exactly 5k miles on the oil and note down any make up oil so we can use that for comparison against the Toyota synthetic.
