Default Newer styled Key Fobs

So i did this type of mod with my previous BMW, I'm just wondering how difficult it would be to get the newer styled key fobs on my 2007 ls460L. currently i have one of

and i wanted to upgrade to the newer one meaning this

it seems like its an easy little mod, and since i had to service my LS recently, they gave me a loaner with the new key fob. it felt more heavy duty compared to the one i currently have and also is there any other types of key fobs our vehicles can have?


also I'm starting off modding my LS, so does anyone know where to get the following parts for a decent price.

- LED tail lights
- LS600HL leather stitched steering wheel
- LS600HL Grill
- looking for some OEM looking rims at a 21" (anyone know if the BMW 7 series alpina rims would fit or photoshop one of our cars with the rims? was always curious how they would look on our vehicles)
- Key FOB
- OEM Front Bumper Starfire pearl
-OEM rear Bumper Starfire pearl

That looks like a neat upgrade, I think as long as the key can be "programmed" to your car I don't see why not. From my search a few other folks have mated the 600's card key to the 460.

so i just purchased those lights on the link. i think i may just purchase a fob and get the dealer to try and program it. i mean what could go wrong?

FYI the 13 and up LS uses a new fob that no other model uses as far as I know. The inside chip dimension and buttons are the same as the keys used in the previous LS which means the chip can just be moved over. The other newer models of Lexus keys are that plastic version you showed above which do not share the same button/chip layout in the key. The new key looks like this.

If you have any questions let me know, but I think you would have much better luck and it would be easier to go to the new LS key.

As far as the Alpina wheels, BMW has more aggressive offsets and I flirted with getting the 21" 5 star for the seven series. In fact I was going to go 21x10 all around and they have two different offsets. I think 22mm and 32mm in that 10" wide style based on one site I was looking at. I think they were replicas though. I was playing around with the fitment calculators and such because I could never find a wheel locally that would allow me to try and test fit. So I don't know exactly how it would look. I think for sure it would have to be the lower offset which should sit nice in our wheel well. Hub centric rings are a must since the BMW has a large center bore and I'm pretty sure acorn lugs are also needed. So I went with my Vossens which I know fit fine. I may go the 21" route down the road, but for now my 22s suit me just fine, plus the tires are half the cost of 21s..at least my Delinte Tires were that is.

Edit, more info on sizes and offsets for BMW 21" Wheels.

Front Option (5 spoke)
Hollander #59519 is 21x9 with 22mm offset (Part 36116776841 or 36116766956)

Rear Options (5 spoke)
Hollander #59543 is 21x10 with 32mm offset (Part 36116776842)
Hollander Part #59520 is 21x10 with 25mm offset (Part 36116766957)

Alpina Wheel Front
Hollander Part 71461 is 21x8.5 with 25mm offset (Part 36107980129)

Alpina Wheel Rear
Hollander Part 71462 is 21x10 with 41mm offset (Part 36107980131)

Based on the Alpina wheels, if you got four of the front version all around, it should work. I know a 9" wheel with a 20mm offset sits perfect in the front. The rear option at 41 is a little high so I would recommend a 3mm hub centric spacer to get you back to 38mm which should make it sit a little more flush in the rear on our cars but shouldn't rub.

I think the Hollander +32mm will work for both front and rear. The +25mm up front with 10" wide might get close to the inner fender lip depending on your ride height

I run 21x10.5 f/r +25 and +30. Shaved rear quarters flush and left the front stock. You gotta run a stretched tire to clear though...245 tire

Not to muddy the waters any further, but ill dump some more dirt in the river here. I ran my oem 19x8 wheels with spacers. Oem Offsets are 32mm. The fronts had a 15mm spacer which basically put me at a 17mm effective offset. The rears had a 20mm spacer which became 12mm essentially. Not an exact science but close enough. Needless to say I drove lowered and didn't come close to rubbing on fenders with the stock 245/45/19 tires.

I think the Alpina staggered will work just fine but I would do a 3mm or 5mm spacer to bring that rear 41 offset closer to flush. The www.willtheyfit.com website is cool to play around with. Shows current and future setups via graphical simulation on the data you submit. Thats how I figured my various spacer and wheel setups would work and it was pretty close to reality

I've been wheel shopping and just a question. so ive been looking at unique rims such as asanti, lexani, HRE, ADV.1 for my car. but does it make any sense to have 20" fronts and either 21 or 22" rears with a staggered stance on our cars?

honestly i find wheels to be fairly confusing with the different offsets and sizes.

I don't recommend overall diameter differences between front and rear. 20 front and 21 rear for example..no bueno. We don't drive old school Camaros. Same diameter staggered looks good on our cars. Have you seen the wheel and tire FAQ sticky thread at the top of our forum? Real world Pics and wheel specs galore from fellow 460/600 members so you can see what you may like and go from there . It comes down to what style you like and going from there. Tirerack.com has an excellent Wheels 101 section that breaks things down for folks to understand what all the terms mean
