Default 60,000 Mile Spark Plug Changes

I just had my 2009 LSAWD in for the 60,000 mile spark plug change. It seems that some years require that at 60K and other years do not. I'm curious which are which.

Daryll40, I stand corrected, looked at my maintenance book again and my '10 LS 460 L requires the spark plugs to be changed at 60K. At 56K my service will be due in a few months and I was told it costs over a grand at the Lexus dealers.

Wow. I would certainly look for an independent and shop that job around. If you're in Pittsburgh, I can give you my guy's name.

Have you ever changed plugs on a vehicle before? I'm no mechanic and did my own plug change in under two hours. I got the recommended plugs for about eighty bucks or so. I did a DIY write up here at CL with pics.

Iridium plugs are usually good for 120,000 - 150,000 miles. My 2007 doesn't require plugs to be changed at 60k. I've seen some cars requiring plug changes at 60,000 miles to "comply with emission standards" unless the car is in CA, NY, etc, where it is not required. Go fugure!
