Default Cleaning Alcantara Headliner

I did 2 searches but could not find the answer. I have the Semi-aniline leather-trimmed interior with Alcantara Headliner and now have 2 fingerprints above the passenger door from reaching in with soiled fingers. What is the best method or cleaning agent I should use to clean my Headliner?

Alcantara is a fancy name for a polyester microfiber. Much like the microfiber fabrics you can purchase on furniture these days, However the alcantara has a higher pile to it. With it being a spun polyester, it is very easily cleaned with a damp rag with a very mild soap. Dawn dish soap is a good cleaner, it will help if it is an oily finger print.

When cleaning these headliners you have to move your hand with the grain, otherwise it won't appear smooth and looking natural with all the same texture. I had the same problem with hand prints on mine. Valley Lexus in Modesto said their detail guy uses denatured alcohol. They said the problem is with other cleaning products, they can leave residue, leaving unmatch materials. I have the semi-aniline leather with alcantara headliner. I saw some other areas that appeared soiled so I bought some at lowes. I used it with with a white paper towel and it's perfect. I poured a light amount on towel because I was skeptical. The paper towel allows you to rub lightly. It removes the soiled spot then evaporates. The key is moving one direction only in the direction of the grain. The headliner looks flawless as it did, my 2 cents

You need to be very, very careful if using denatured alcohol. I was doing that and accidentally dropped a single drop on the transmission panel. It almost instantly took the finish off, and left an ugly near white spot. A horrible spot to have a problem. Every time you get in the car or look near the console it stares you in the face.

Immediately ordered a replacement part and installed it myself.

My suggestion, don't let denatured alcohol anywhere near the interior of your car!
