Cool 2008 LS 460 - Self-Closing Door Problem

My self-closing door feature on my driver door has stopped working recently. The other three doors self-closing door feature works flawlessly.

Is there an easy solution, such as a fuse? Or, does something else, more extensive, need to be done, i.e., should I seek out a professional mechanic?

As an aside, around the same time (if not the same time), my folding side mirror for my driver door stopped working. Any possibility they are related?

Thank you,
Larry

Was definitely hoping to avoid the dealership.

That was exactly my thought...the door jamb switch.

I would start there.

How about not recommending the dealership to someone on their first post without offering some other assistance or letting someone else have an opportunity to help them first.

Telling someone to go to the dealership without any assistance at all is not what we are here for. If that was the case, no one would ever fix anything on their own.

Who knows now if this person will ever come back and see the suggestions we've offered.

Sounds like a fuse to me. Did you check the outside mirror fuse? Did you do any work on the door?

Fuse..there are multiple fuse boxes to check. One fuse shut down my entire rear systems including one door closer

Hello Larry,

My car has the same issue but on the rear driver side but mirror still function. What I noticed, if you open the door and if the courtesy lights is not activate; meaning your switch is bad. But if you wiggle the switch and the lights is On meaning your switch is bad too. You can try to swap them switch around and see if that helps.

TIL: There's a self-closing door option for '08 LS 460's that I didn't know about!

I wonder if that can be retrofitted 6 years later....

Defective Doorjamb Switches are a common problem on these cars and they can pose a serious safety risk. We have discussed this issue in several threads in this forum. Replacing the switches is inexpensive and a DIY project for many.
