Lexus navigation upgrades shouldn't cost so much.

Got this email today too. I think I will be taking advantage of this. It should be this price normally.

Lexus of Omaha adds $118 for labor plus the $99. They had to order the software key for my car that they do no keep the keys on hand and it would take a couple of days to get. Guess I will drive over to Tulsa after we get back to Bella Vista.

Do you know how much Lexus of Tulsa charge for labor? I want to order the dongle from Sewell and have them install it. I wonder if Toyota of NWA can update the map

I do not know what Tulsa charges. I have not called them yet as we are still up in Nebraska.

Spoke with Lexus of Tulsa today when we got home from Nebraska. The hourly charge is $108 plus the $99.00. They ordered several keys last Friday when the received the version 14.1 software last Thursday. They are expecting the keys in by Friday.

Does anyone know if ONE key would work for MULTIPLE vehicles? Obviously, labor would be multiplied by number of vehicles, but might could save SOMETHING on the key(s).

My Lexus dealer told me $149 version for my car (2009) plus $125 installation charge. So almost $300 with taxes, etc. Still very expensive and not much of a "deal" in my opinion.

A better option which I'm considering, is to buy the Vaistech IVIC module and use my phone's navigation apps though my screen. Only a hundred or so more than updating the nav and does soooo much more.

My dealer told me the same thing initially. When I provided the link below he agreed to the $99 upgrade fee. Per the link, your car does not require the SD based upgrade therefore your cost should be $99, installation not included.

Question: I looked at http://www.lexusnavigation.com/ and noticed the 2014 Navigation updates are out. But, for Generation 2 and 3 systems, it still shows version 2013. Does this mean that Generation 2 and 3 will no longer be updated?

Lexus should give a free annual upgrade to those having their vehicle serviced at a Lexus dealer. THAT would be great customer service! (at least the three years of certification or new car warranty)
