Who the hell would I trust to install it?
Collision/Body shop or dealer.

Would a Lexus premium extended warranty cover even the labor for this? I was on the fence about getting one before I hit 50k; that might tip it in the warranty favor.

I have that dash, you can do it yourself. It's about an 3.5 hr job. I put a leather dash in my car so I got the same dash as your in my storage.

Just thinking. Is there a reason they don't use leather in a high end car for the dash. At this price point I would expect the best of materials. How did the leather turn out. Where did you buy it from?

Thanks

I guess to get more money out of you, I bought online. The dealership sell them for $16k. It turned out nice big difference. I will try a load some pics.

OK, so how much is a leather dash cost? Just material cost. Thanks.

I don't know I got a deal because I knew the person, they are rare and hard to come by unless you order one from lexus. Trying to wrap the factory dash with leather I wouldn't do because it's too thick of a dash pad. Keep searching eBay or the classified for a deal on a leather dash.

Default I had this problem

When I had my 07 LS i had this same exact problem. You can not have it painted and "the vinyl fix" comes out horrible. The dash and door armrests will do this if they are not cleaned with waterbased cleaners.

Got a 14 LS F-Sport same material for dash... $90k car....

I might just have it wrapped in black vinyl. Got to make some calls tomorrow. My concern is replacing it with a factory new one; in a few years it will do the same thing.

I am sorry to see this.

FWIW, the 2008 460L I just got rid of spent its first 3.5 years (and 40k miles) in the TX heat. The original owner was not a 303 guy, and the dash had nothing on it, yet it was perfect when I got it. I cleaned it with dry microfiber and applied 303, and the dashboard was still perfect as of three weeks ago, when the car was already 6.5 yrs-old.

Where I'm going with this is that I would not be as worried about replacing with an original dash pad. I honestly believe that if you care for it properly (or even leave it alone), it should be fine.

This is a huge problem in my car. Literally every panel that is NOT leather is melting. I took the car to the dealership for a routine oil change today and was told that Lexus in a few months will issue a recall for a TSB / extended warranty encounter to replace all the dashboards. I think this issue is BEYOND just the dashboard. I can't get in the car or close the doors (which are also melting and cracking) without black goo on my hands. I would advise people with this problem to speak to their dealerships as well as it seems Lexus corporate is aware of the issue. Apparently this is a 2007 year issue. Our 2010 is fine (and lives outside in the S. Fla heat). The 2007 is the garage queen ironically and is melting.

Lets keep each other posted!

i ended up getting it treated by a local interior expert and everything was fine after that. I did sell the car about a month ago and picked up a 2015 Ultimate Hyundai Genesis - this new car is so far ahead of the 2007 LS460 I owned it's not even funny. Whisper quiet @ 90 MPH, the adaptive cruise is "stop and go" and actually will allow you to follow a vehicle closely! Lexicon stereo easily on par with Mark Levinson, and the car will allow you to completely use your phone and NAV while on the freeway.. I drove nothing but Lexus cars from 2002-2015 and that is behind me now. Reliable, but very, very far from the "pursuit of perfection". I don't have creaks and rattles in this car, and the brakes don't make strange noises either...
