I am looking for LS460 and these two vehicles hit my attention;

Car 1: 2011 460L RWD
Miles : 39k
Asking : $42k
Packages : ML Audio / DVD changer, Navigation value edition, 19" wheels

Car2 : 2011 460 RWD
Miles : 25k
Asking : $42k
Packages : Navigation, ML audio / APGS value, comfort pack, 19" wheels

Both have clean carfax and maintenance history also both don't come with adaptive suspension.

Since I am new to LS series, here are my questions;

1. Is the asking prices on both vehicles high?
2. Which one will you pick based on the info provided and why?
3. With 460L, can three sit (2 kids and an adult) at the back seat?. I read somewhere center seat is used as some sort of a console.
4. How do find out if any of these equipped with radar cruise control without asking the seller?.

I would plug in all the particulars of each car into the Edmunds, KBB and NADA websites. That should give you an idea of where those prices are.

I would take #2 because I don't need the rear seat legroom and as a bonus it is lower miles.

Both of those cars will sit 3 in the back if they don't have the executive package.

If you have a photo of the steering wheel there is a button on the lower right side on the 2007 models, but it may have changed for 2011. Why not just ask the seller?

 

As an owner of a SWB, I would be looking at the L. I wish I had the extra room and the rear dvd. I would also want the air ride. I am very disappointed in my SWB with regular suspension. The ride is just not comfortable at all. I feel every bump, and find the ride to be no different than any other car.

I would be much happier with a long wheelbase and air suspension. I also wouldn't buy another without adaptive cruise.

For me compared to an LS400, the ride in the 460 is terrible. Older LS's had a much better ride. If I wanted stiffer suspension I would have bought an ISF. IMHO there is no comparison.

 

I would take the 460L

I've owned Bimmers (7 series) and Acuras and Oldsmobiles. The LS embarasses them.

As for leg room.....My son is 6.2 and I'm 6 feet. There is at LEAST 4-6 inches of legroom for him back there in my NON L, LS. Unless one is obese and needs the larger door for ingress and egress, I'm not sure why I'd need the L, except for suspension/etc.

 

I personally like soft ride, that's why I am looking into LS. I guess I have to go with air suspension. Finding a one with adaptive cruise is very difficult on the used car market. Since I am not in rush, will wait for the right car.

 

I recommend test driving one with it, and one without it.

Also I recommend the following
1) If it needs tires, do NOT let them put Bridgestone tires on it. They are terrible.
2) Be willing to travel to get exactly what you want.
3) read as much as you can here. You will find out about little things that you can look at when you test drive a car and get them fixed BEFORE you leave the dealership
4) Most people here recommend an extended warranty for a reason. If the air ride goes, or anything large it is very expensive to fix.

Just a few things to keep in mind as you look.

The air suspension is not necessary for a "soft ride".

 

I just picked up an 07 460L with radar cruise and it is awesome. If at all possible I would suggest you get one with it. One thing to keep in mind is that the LWB comes with more standard features than the SWB does.

 

As an owner of 2... a 2009 SWB AWD w/air supension and a 2010 SWB RWD without air supension but with 19" wheels, I can tell you my impression...

Air suspension is a car you ride
Regular suspension w/19" is a car you drive

Air is more comfy, but more disconnected from the road...
