Default Peeling dashboard chrome strips

I have a 2010 LS 460 Sport. At 90,000 miles, the car is aging really well with one exception: The "chrome" on the horizontal strips just above the climate control buttons is starting to wear off. The dealer told me that he has a detailing guy who could paint the strip, but when it came down to it, he couldn't match the other strips on the dash. The dealer also says that you'd have to pull the dash apart to replace the strip which would be very costly and might lead to rattles. Any thoughts on how to fix this? Doesn't seem right on a $75,000 car.
